Thanks Shaneo, that's a great start. I was hoping to find all the clever filling in chords he plays as well.

Hi Guys,
Saw your thread. I think these chords are a bit closer to the mark but I saw Tim play this on the guitar on Woodsongs.com (the very end of the broadcast) with a more complex arrangement than he does on the mandolin on the record. In any event, it is a very cool tune to throw your own substitutions in. Tim uses a lot of chord inversions on the mandolin arrangement, these are also cool. I haven't tabbed out the chords but I am working my way through the solo.
If the formatting of this post is out of whack, send me an email and I'll send you a pdf
Cheers,

In case Shaneo's link ceases to work sometime, here are the full lyrics:

GETOUT THERE AND DANCE
By Tim O'Brien

Why don't you do it in a circle, Do it in a square
Do it in a tux or in your underwear?
Nobody's watchin', No nobody cares.
Just get out there and dance.

Do it with your feet, do it with your hands,
Do it to a record or do it to a band.
What part of "boogie" don't you understand?
Just get out there and dance.

Chorus:
You got to get out there, you got to get in the groove,
Let things get loose, let everything move.
Your head starts bobbin', Your toes start tappin',
Your hands start clappin' - Now anything can happen.

So step it to the left, Step it to the right,
Shimmy with your shoulders and your hips all night.
As long as you're doin' it, you're doin' it right.
Just get out there and dance.

Do it in the morning or in the afternoon,
Underneath the chandelier or underneath the moon.
If you need some music, hum yourself a tune.
Just get out there and dance.

(Chorus)

Do it to a polka or do it to a waltz,
Do it in a line or to some guy who's shoutin' calls.
If you don't have fun It's your own damn fault.
Just get out there and dance.

Grab yourself a partner, give their hand a tug.
Do it on a carpet - You can cut a rug.
Do it, do it till you catch that bug,
I said "Get out there and dance."

Learn from Arthur Miller or Dancin' With The Stars.
Learn from Fred Astaire or learn from Ginger Rogers.
Learn it from youngsters or learn it from old codgers,
Just get out there and dance.

Chorus

Having had the experience of enjoying Tim singin this last year at Bogbain Farm, just south of Inverness, (or was it the year before), it was amazing.
He actually did all the actions whilst singing the song...sitting down!
A truly memorable night...and such a Gent...blagged a copy of his album for Caithness FM with his approval.
A National Treasure to be sure!

I just realised I made a mistake in the chords above. The C9 should be a Cm. Apologies for misleading you.
Cheers, Doc
