Subject: Lyr/Chords Add: GET OUT THERE AND DANCE (O'Brien) From: GUEST,Doc White Date: 05 May 09 - 12:41 AM Hi Guys, Saw your thread. I think these chords are a bit closer to the mark but I saw Tim play this on the guitar on Woodsongs.com (the very end of the broadcast) with a more complex arrangement than he does on the mandolin on the record. In any event, it is a very cool tune to throw your own substitutions in. Tim uses a lot of chord inversions on the mandolin arrangement, these are also cool. I haven't tabbed out the chords but I am working my way through the solo. If the formatting of this post is out of whack, send me an email and I'll send you a pdf Cheers, Doc White www.myspace.com/bluefella chris@chriswhite.com.au Get Out There And Dance From Chameleon (Tim O'Brien (Cornbread Nation, admin. by Bluewater Music, ASCAP) G D7 Do it in a circle or do it in a square G G7 C7 C9 Do it in a tux or in your underwear G6 E7 A7 D7 Nobody's watchin, nobody cares G C7 G D7 Just get out there and dance G G7 D7 Do it with your feet, do it with your hands G G7 C7 C9 Do it to a record, or do it to a band G6 E7 A7 D7 What part of boogie don't you understand G C7 G G7 Get out there and dance Chorus: C C7 Gotta get out there, gotta get in the groove G D G G7 Let things get loose, let everything move A A7 Your head starts to bobbin, your toes start to tappin D D7 Your hands start to clappin, now anything can happen |

Subject: Lyric Add: Get Out There and Dance (Tim O'Brien From: Genie Date: 11 Apr 10 - 11:28 PM In case Shaneo's link ceases to work sometime, here are the full lyrics: GETOUT THERE AND DANCE By Tim O'Brien Why don't you do it in a circle, Do it in a square Do it in a tux or in your underwear? Nobody's watchin', No nobody cares. Just get out there and dance. Do it with your feet, do it with your hands, Do it to a record or do it to a band. What part of "boogie" don't you understand? Just get out there and dance. Chorus: You got to get out there, you got to get in the groove, Let things get loose, let everything move. Your head starts bobbin', Your toes start tappin', Your hands start clappin' - Now anything can happen. So step it to the left, Step it to the right, Shimmy with your shoulders and your hips all night. As long as you're doin' it, you're doin' it right. Just get out there and dance. Do it in the morning or in the afternoon, Underneath the chandelier or underneath the moon. If you need some music, hum yourself a tune. Just get out there and dance. (Chorus) Do it to a polka or do it to a waltz, Do it in a line or to some guy who's shoutin' calls. If you don't have fun It's your own damn fault. Just get out there and dance. Grab yourself a partner, give their hand a tug. Do it on a carpet - You can cut a rug. Do it, do it till you catch that bug, I said "Get out there and dance." Learn from Arthur Miller or Dancin' With The Stars. Learn from Fred Astaire or learn from Ginger Rogers. Learn it from youngsters or learn it from old codgers, Just get out there and dance. Chorus |
Subject: RE: Chords Req: Get Out There and Dance (Tim O'Brien) From: Effsee Date: 11 Apr 10 - 11:43 PM Having had the experience of enjoying Tim singin this last year at Bogbain Farm, just south of Inverness, (or was it the year before), it was amazing. He actually did all the actions whilst singing the song...sitting down! A truly memorable night...and such a Gent...blagged a copy of his album for Caithness FM with his approval. A National Treasure to be sure! |
