Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: Ringer Date: 23 Jul 09 - 07:05 AM I think it's to do with sunspots (or lack of 'em). |
Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 23 Jul 09 - 09:46 AM Unfortunately, a guiet June and July doesn't necessarilly mean a mild hurricane season. The first tropical system of 2004 didn't begin developing until July 31. By the end of September, there'd been twelve named storms, with four making landfall in Florida as major hurricanes. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: CarolC Date: 17 Aug 09 - 09:21 AM In this this five day cone from NOAA, they have an "H" in the little black dot that represents the eye of the hurricane for Monday and Tuesday, but starting on Wednesday, there's an "M" in the little black dot. I know what all of the letters I've seen so far represent - D for tropical depression, S for tropical storm, and H for hurricane, but I've never seen an M before and I have no idea what it's supposed to stand for. Does anyone else have any ideas about that? |
Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: gnu Date: 17 Aug 09 - 09:27 AM M... sustained wind 110mph |
Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: CarolC Date: 17 Aug 09 - 10:08 AM Oh, I see it now. Thanks. So that would make it category 3 or above if there's an M there. Bill looks like it could be bad then. Hope it loses some strength before it hits land. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: Bill D Date: 17 Aug 09 - 10:41 AM hmmmppff..if "Bill" comes on that track, Bill D. had better plan on wind & rain, at the very least. |
Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Aug 09 - 02:00 PM Once the season starts it really starts, doesn't it? No dribble of storms and building up to something big. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hurricane '2009???' From: gnu Date: 17 Aug 09 - 08:05 PM It ain't THAT the wind is blowin, it's WHAT the wind is blowin... As soon as I find that comics name, I will post it... Bill sommat? |
