Subject: Jack Hudson & NFA at the Old Oak From: SylviaN Date: 20 Oct 09 - 05:58 AM 'LIVE' at: The Old Oak Inn, 176, Main Street, Horsley Woodhouse, Derbyshire. JACK HUDSON & NO FIXED ABODE Wednesday 11th November - 8pm Entry £10.00 with £8.00 concessions. You shouldn't miss this concert - don't just take my word for it, see what others say: Jack Hudson "has a wonderful, rich voice, a talent for writing seemingly simple songs full of great lines, and he has an enviably easy way with a country song that always manages to reveal its significance. He's been playing and singing both his own songs and those of other great country, acoustic players for over thirty years". (Neil Dalton in Maverick Magazine) No Fixed Abode Una has a beautiful voice, vibrant and true. Her wide repertoire swings from the traditional to the contemporary with ease, and she is a joy to listen to. Tony is the perfect foil and accompanies Una with real strength, yet with delicate touches which makes their performances so good. No Fixed Abode are a joy to work with and should be booked by clubs and festivals who are looking for new talent and fresh faces. Subject: RE: Jack Hudson & NFA at the Old Oak From: SylviaN Date: 25 Oct 09 - 05:47 AM What, Backwoodsman, never head of the famous "Ossley Wood'uss"? Surely everyone knows is in the deepest, darkets wilds of Derbyshire - well, not quite. It's on the A609 between Belper and Heanor. Here are a couple of photos: Old Oak Inn - Before and now to the CAMRA page for the now photo, as the pub has been voted the best pub of 2009 for the East Midlands - one of the 16 best pubs in the UK! I was at the presentation of the award last Sunday, and a grand do it was. Old Oak Inn - Now. That should lubricate your throats so that you can sing along with Jack and Tony & Una. Cheers Sylvia |
Subject: RE: Jack Hudson & NFA at the Old Oak From: Backwoodsman Date: 25 Oct 09 - 08:16 AM We-e-e-e-e-ll, I'm teetotal Sylvia! Do they do a decent cup of tea? :-) :-) And I'd urge anyone and everyone who's within driving distance to leap at the opportunity to get down there and hear one of the UK's greatest performers of Americana and fabulous self-written songs. A magnificent voice and a fine guitar-player. Like all of us, he won't be around for ever - don't miss him this time around. And Tony & Una aren't half bad either - great support for a musical giant. Be there or be a dozy prat! BWM |
