Subject: BS: Palin's VP Pick: Beck or Santa
From: Bobert
Date: 19 Nov 09 - 07:49 PM

Word on the street is that Santa Claus is about to be evicted from the North Pole... I don't know what he did but I'm sure that Mrs. Claus does but she ain't talkin' 'cept to say that she is "standing by her man"...

Anyway, seein' that Santa has to go I was thinkin' he might end up in Alaska 'cause everyone knows he loves the cold weather...

So the questiion is... Should Santa end up in Alaska and maybe even a neighbor of Todd and Sarah and they hit it off okay should she choose Santa over Glen Beck for VP in '012???

Sarah/Santa does have that nice ring to it...

I donno???

I think that would be excellent, because the children who love Santa are not old enough to vote and the SarahFans might find it difficult to defend their choice.

Why should Santa move to Alaska? He can see Russia from his front porch at the North Pole.

Sarah will more likely pick Lou Dobbs as her running mate, CNN over Fox any old time. I wonder what they'll call their new party?

1. The Bull Moose Party
2. The Moose Bull Party
3. or just cut to the chase: The Bull Moose Turd Party

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

Apparently, the Post Office action came because of securitiy issues. They're trying to save the tradition. See:

http://ap.juneauempire.com/pstories/state/ak/20091120/526939718.shtml

"Santa's "elves" at the North Pole have been given their walking papers — but they're not going quietly.

"The volunteer "elves" are trying to counter a decision by the U.S. Postal Service to discontinue a program begun in 1954 in the small Alaskan town of North Pole, where they open and respond to thousands of letters addressed to "Santa Claus, North Pole" each year.

"The city was founded on the Christmas theme," Gabby Gaborik, chief elf among several dozen volunteers, said Thursday. "This is our identity. This is North Pole, Alaska."

"Gaborik said he met with Postal Service officials this week to come up with an alternative. He's now working with local government officials to get "101 Santa Claus Lane" as an address for his group, Santa's Mailbag. That way children will have a specific destination for their letters, allowing volunteers to run their own program and bypass stringent new rules implemented by the Postal Service after security issues arose in a similar program in Maryland last year.

"Gaborik believes his town's name gives the local effort more cachet than other destinations.

"People in North Pole are incensed by the changes. The letter program is a revered holiday tradition in North Pole, where light posts are curved and striped like candy canes and streets have names like Kris Kringle Drive. Volunteers in the letter program even sign the response letters as Santa's elves and helpers."

Santa running as a "conservative"? I think one of the reasons for Global Warming denial is so when the ice melts Walmart can outsource Santa's workshop.

Btw this is the funniest Palin joke I've seen in a while.

Twilight Sarah

With the proceeds from Wide Load Enterprises the game Hail to the Chimp should provide more than enough money for the Palin Beck 2012 presidential bid.

It is a game that shows the political world of the animal kingdom.
Sure the Chimp is Prez and smokes cigarettes. He eveb has a beer summit or two but there is no connection whatsoever to the Obama Presidency. I repeat: There is ever copnnection in the world to the Obama Presidency..

The game in pics

(I have no idea who profits dierectly from the sale of this game...but I'd like to know)

One thing about Glen Beck, for those he appeals to and is believed no matter what he says...he sures makes hatred and racism COOL again.
Man if I were a White Supremeist I'd be in pig heaven just to be in Beck's studio audience.

The U. S. Post Office is losing money. It operates as a corporation, and is not funded by the government.

In order to save money, it is trying to move Santa not only south, but out of business. Perhaps Bobert should offer his back 40 before the old boy is forced into the poorhouse.

Fedex may be readying a takeover bid.

Feliz navidad!

Sorry to disappoint, Q, but the word now is that the US Post Office has reconsidered and will continue the service.

I used to spend quite a bit of time in the Shenandoah National Forest, Bobert. Beautiful. I remember rhodies 15 feet high.

Are you familiar with Sherando Lake? How about Crabtree Cove?

Not to my knowledge, Q. Do you know? I know that it's running awfully close to the precipice but every tme it has to have more money, they get congressional approval to raise the price of a stamp. In other words, the consumer is already paying for it.

Ebbie,
I have camped near Sherando Lake since I was a wee one in the 1960's.
Beautiful place.

Sherando Lake was not nearly as commercializes in the 50s as I understand it is now. We used to boat and picnic there but it was not a busy facility then. Reading about it now (online) is rather dismaying. But you are right- it is beautiful.

I think I misspoke, by the way- it was Crabtree Falls, not Cove, where we used to go a lot.

I've got to give her credit - she is bringing the Republican and Democratic parties together as never before!

They both want her to run for president in 2012!

I am showing my age but here goes...

When I was just a little girl
I asked my mother, what will I be
Will I be pretty, will I be rich
Here's what she said to me.

Hey Sarah, Palin,
Whatever will be, will be
The future's not ours, to see
Hey Sarah, Palin
What will be, will be.

When I was young, I fell in love
I asked my sweetheart what lies ahead
Will we shoot raindeer, from an airplane
Here's what my sweetheart said.

Hey Sarah, Palin
Whatever we see, we see
The future's just hours, for me
Hey Sarah, Palin
What we see, we see.

Now I have children of my own
They ask their mother, what will I be
Will I be handsome, will I be rich
I tell them tenderly.

You betcha, ya know
It took that ol man Mc Cain
ta give me some TV fame
now book tours are just a game
so Hoo Raw Hoo Raw

I don't remember a second lake so I went looking. In this link it says that in 1960 the Soil Conservation District created the Upper Sherando Lake. I haven't lived in Virginia since the middle 50s.

There is a photo of the lake at the link- it still looks serene.

I got a big kick out of Robin Williams on the Letterman show. He said he read Palin's new book; found it in the fantasy section, and that she was voted most likely to burn a book than to read one...
