Sally Barker (from The Poozies) has a little sideline which should be of interest to all fans of Joni's music. They're touring in duo form at the moment and all atages of Joni's career are covered in the (for want of a better word) "tribute" show.

Here's the blurb

Singer/Songwriter Sally Barker has cherished a long-held ambition to present Joni Mitchell's songs as close to their original form as is possible. 'Big Yellow Taxi' was one of the first songs Sally sang live and she has lost count of the times her voice has been compared to Joni's. When Sally was asked to perform 'Coyote' as Joni in a tribute version of Martin Scorsese's film The Last Waltz, research into the song's tuning refuelled that ambition.

Sally is joined by Glenn Hughes a musician who, like herself, possess the capacity to breathe within the fabric of Joni's material and give it fresh life, without sacrificing the authenticity of those cherished songs.

Sally has enjoyed a successful international career both as a solo artist (6 albums - www.sallybarker.co.uk) and with the all-female crossover-folk super group The Poozies (3 albums – www.poozies.com), touring with Richard Thompson, Robert Plant and Bob Dylan. She now juggles her music career with the demands of single parenthood (2 sons) and recently completed a degree in Music Technology.

Because of the range and breadth of Joni Mitchell's work it is not easy for one artist to reflect this. Sally Barker accomplishes the vocal demands with ease and extensive research has ensured that the accompaniment matches the high standards set by Joni herself.

This event is a must for Joni Mitchell devotees!

They're playing in Twickenham this coming Sunday 29th....all welcome

Is it folk?

If that question really is that important to you the answer is almost certainly what you want it to be....
