Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Micca Date: 21 Jan 10 - 02:59 AM Moonglow, I am glad You got the parcel!! much of the serious college work done in UK Universities is fuelled by Tea and Chocolate (the non serious is powered by BEER)I am a Science Technician but have designed and built sets for school and college stage productions so I have some understanding of the pressure of "Production deadlines" Your secret Ninja Santa grew out of a remark SRS made about how you had both enjoyed the Tea from a previous SS delivery,so I thought a Secret Santa encore would be a nice surprise to a Hard working student( You ARE a hard working student?) The book is not a "read" but a book for "dipping" into, |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: GUEST,Vectis's Very Virtuous Santa Date: 20 Jan 10 - 07:26 PM So glad that you liked the moose - mine has been christened Bruce and sits on the dashboard nodding away to everyone. You second package was sent, today, to my elf. Here's hoping she can get it to you without too much trouble. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: vectis Date: 20 Jan 10 - 06:16 PM I look forward to it Santa. I guess I must be the only person in my neck of the woods with a nodding moose in the back window of her car. You should see people doing a double take at a dog with antlers?!? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 20 Jan 10 - 01:54 AM Good memory--I just checked--the last time she logged in was 5 years ago. Don't be a stranger here, kiddo! I brag about you all of the time. But you'll have to come and find out where. :) Thanks again, Micca, that was a charming idea to completely surprise her. In case you're wondering what she looks like, here's a photo of Moonglow a few years ago. She's the one in the pack. :) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: moonglow Date: 19 Jan 10 - 10:09 PM AHA, there it is. I spend too much time on the internet, but somehow get confused by the most straightforward of forums (at least I eventually remembered my password). I got out of bed one afternoon this holiday break, and my roommates told me I had a package from the UK. I was surprised and wondered who could have sent it. Many thanks to Micca - my extra-secret ninja Santa! I'm working on a big costume design project, so the tea will definitely help me (and my roommates) get through this semester. The chocolates look fantastic (I've started on one of the larger bars - I'll get to the small ones eventually!) and I'll have a look at the book once I finish my current one. Many, many thanks for the present, and many apologies for such a late reply! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 19 Jan 10 - 08:54 PM Running this back up to the top so a certain wandering beam of night light can find it, even if she can't find her password. . . |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: GUEST,Vectis's Very Virtuous Santa Date: 13 Jan 10 - 01:19 PM Dear Vectis I hope that the items contained within your package were to your satisfaction. There will be one more item to come. Time and distance caused a delay in getting it organized, so watch out for another package, probably from the same source as the last one. MGAS is a very helpful elf! |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 12 Jan 10 - 01:29 PM I happen to know there was some freelance, or perhaps you could call it Stealth Santa activity this season. There is a Mudcat cub who needs to log on to say thank you! [nudge nudge] SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Desert Dancer Date: 12 Jan 10 - 09:10 AM Yay! Glad the camels weren't overcome by the snow! ~ Becky in Tucson |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: greg stephens Date: 12 Jan 10 - 06:05 AM Still watching the skies. Looks like I may have to settle for an Easter egg. |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Anne Lister Date: 11 Jan 10 - 07:57 AM Oh, thank you, DesertDancer and Astro! Package finally delivered this morning (first mail we've had in over a week because of the snow) and it really raised my spirits! Haven't yet had a chance to play the CD, but the little basket will be perfect for putting my newly replaced jewellery in, and we're intrigued to try the jelly. Thank you, thank you, thank you! Anne |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Stilly River Sage Date: 07 Jan 10 - 03:37 PM I mailed two boxes using Priority mail at the same time on Dec. 22, and one reached my brother two days later. The second reached my sister on Jan. 4. I think they must have hand-carried it from Fort Worth to Seattle. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Anne Lister Date: 07 Jan 10 - 12:07 PM Epiphany has come and gone and we are now in the grip of the snow and ice - which should suit Santa and his sleigh but isn't helping our postie one bit. He hasn't visited us for a couple of days now. So I'm still left minus a pressie. *sigh* |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Becca72 Date: 06 Jan 10 - 01:12 PM Just a little googling and Bob's yer uncle! Many thanks, Greg! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: greg stephens Date: 06 Jan 10 - 01:10 PM Becca72: well done. Looks like the solution was too easy, didnt take too long at all. I will send the other half of the present. Happy New Year |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: sian, west wales Date: 06 Jan 10 - 10:13 AM Yep, great stuff, Art. In fact, I'm having my hair trimmed tomorrow so my earrings can be seen in their full glory! It says, "Edison Yatsate Zuni" on the back of the card and "Tanner Chaney Galleries" on the front. I'm a big fan of buying local craft! And, yes, twas me last year, with the ponies and the boats and the mansion and the return space flight. I DID try to leave you hints but the penny never dropped! sian, WEST WALES |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: artbrooks Date: 05 Jan 10 - 05:33 PM Sian, glad you like the package. Actually, herself picked the books and I picked the earrings - we collaborate. There is a shop here I like that specializes in the work of local artists. Those are, if I remember correctly, from Zuni Pueblo...they may be from Zia instead, but the card with them will say. And you were my SS last year? I never did figure it out! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Becca72 Date: 05 Jan 10 - 04:37 PM Hang on, then! Could it be you, Greg Stephens? |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Becca72 Date: 05 Jan 10 - 04:28 PM Santa, What appears to be the preview gift has arrived. I will be busy the next couple days reading all enclosed material and listening to the cd to try to figure out who you are so I can solve the puzzle and get the "Grand prize" :-) You are a very good puzzle creater and I am a very poor puzzle solver so it could take more than "a few minutes". Thanks again! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: sian, west wales Date: 05 Jan 10 - 02:22 PM I sit here, a happy (snow) bunny. My mind is engaged, my tummy is looking forward to some interesting cooking, and my ears are pretty. My SS package arrived while I was away in Canada but there is NOTHING nicer than dragging in from a long and tiring trip to have presents awaiting. I my parcel was a book on weavers and weaving supplies in New Mexico, a book of recipes celebrating the 2009 Albaquerque Tomato Fiesta (if I ever travel America, that will be a 'must-see'!) and the sweetest little pair of earrings which I think are silver-set turquoise li'l flowers. IIRC, the earrings were the idea of Mrs. Santa - a very very wise woman with excellent taste. It is my guess that my SS is Art Brooks ... who I know doesn't live in New Mexico (speaking as someone who knows his SS from last year intimately). The "Mrs Santa" allusion fits. However, if I'm wrong, then AB is playing evil elf for some other 'Catter, as I'm pretty sure I saw his name on the return address before my friend whipped the wrapping away. (She takes this SS stuff way too seriously! Packaging was even recycled from her house so I couldn't rifle through the garbage.) Anyhooo, how good are these presents, eh? Come summer, I'll be making up a mess of tomato based sauces, with some other dishes in the meantime. Not sure I know what all of the ingredients are; I shall have to wikipee on "arugula", "Fontina" or "Bucheron" cheese, "Peekytoe" crabmeat (would steel toecap crab work?)and "orecchiette"? NO! DON'T TELL ME ! It's all part of the magic. So, thank you Santa! Perfect job! Hugs & kisses and Happy New Year! sian |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: jacqui.c Date: 03 Jan 10 - 05:04 PM Hey Santa - I think I've got the same thing so I do sympathise! I'll wait patiently until you are no longer a patient! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: GUEST,jacqui.c's wacqui.c-yanta Date: 03 Jan 10 - 04:54 PM So sorry there, Jacqui me dear. Yer puir ole wacky see-yanta got caught in a nasty North Pole snowdrift and is currently in a sickbed with the croupy coughs. Pressie to follow when See-yanta is on the mend. In the meantime, enjoy the new year! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Anne Lister Date: 03 Jan 10 - 11:36 AM I've been assured something will come by Epiphany, so I live in hope. As I'm busy spending my insurance settlement for the October burglary the post at the moment is full of nice surprises. I hope all other currently Santa-less Santees will be lucky soon! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Desert Dancer Date: 02 Jan 10 - 08:12 PM In fact, when we look at the card, we see it's signed "Barb'ry", too. (Doh!) |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Hollowfox Date: 30 Dec 09 - 03:51 PM I'm glad it arrived in good shape. I always like to read the newspaper packing when I get a box in the mail, too. Enjoy, Mary |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: GUEST,Becca72's SS Date: 30 Dec 09 - 12:40 PM Well maths was never my strong point.I thought 42 was the answer to everything. There seems to have been a bit of reindeer problem in the delivery department. I am putting the Package Tracking Elf on the case to see where we have got to on this one. Watch the Skies!! |
Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 30 Dec 09 - 08:20 AM The Eagle has landed! & left a huge box of goodies from Santa Hollowfox. The eagle didn't drop any feathers but left his image all over the parcel sent by the US Post office. I've listened to the "official" pressie - a local CD of 'Songs of Western Pennsylvania' by the Newlanders & will eventually get round to the Mudcatter CDs (Jean Ritchie & John Roberts) & the piece of history (Kent State May 4 project) I've also read all the local paper wrappings & just loved the comics from the Tribune Chronicle. Some of my favourite strips there & it's good to see that we're not behind in the Prince Valiant, Garfield, For Better or Worse, Wizard of Id, Zits, Hagar the Horrible & Blondie strips. It's years since I've seen Doonesbury (website found & bookmarked), Dennis the Menace & Andy Capp & I just love the new ones. I'll be very carefully preserving the comics with the rest of my comic strip & cartoon collection. I'll probably use my new iron to carefully iron it so it can go into my archival scrapbook! I'll start one of the embroideries & pour over the maps over the next few days. The Niagara Falls souvenir has already found a place in my cabinet. THANKYOU Santa Hollowfox. sandra |

Subject: RE: BS: Thank you, Santa! From: Desert Dancer Date: 28 Dec 09 - 04:38 PM Thanks to Barbara in Lancashire somewhere (despite the package return address of Scotland!) -- judging by the Lancs calendar (hung in advance), the Lancs recipe book, and the Lancs dialect book! Hmm... Barbara Shaw is in Connecticut, and Barbara, as in "Blessings, Barbara", is in Oregon, so it must be a Barbara who goes by some other Mudcat moniker -- hints?? ~ Becky and Michael (astro) in Long Beach, Calif. |
