Subject: Roots @ The Roundhouse? From: Folknacious Date: 23 Jan 10 - 12:44 PM I'm a bit (only a bit mind) surprised that nobody has mentioned last night's Roots @ The Roundhouse fRootsenanny gig. Did anybody else on M'cat go or watch the webcast? Around 12 amazingly good performances by top line artists including June Tabor & the Oyster Band, Martin Simpson, Billy Bragg, Jim Moray, Devon Sproule, Justin Adams, Mustaphas 3 and many more in a surprisingly intimate setting for a big venue. Very good sound, lights, video screens, the full modern works but it felt more like a folk club (with the best floor singers ever!) Morris dancing too! |
Subject: RE: Roots @ The Roundhouse? From: Ruth Archer Date: 23 Jan 10 - 01:56 PM I was there - a great night. Kudos to Ian Anderson for putting it all together and assembling such a fantastic bill. 30 years of total dedication to music well and truly celebrated. There was a special award for David Suff and Tony Engle for Threescore and Ten as well. |
Subject: RE: Roots @ The Roundhouse? From: The Borchester Echo Date: 24 Jan 10 - 10:20 AM I wasn't, but I saw most of the podcast while working. Brill sound and vision with (mostly) exciting performances. No cockups (that I could see). Well done to Sam Lee for cracking the whip behind the scenes and to Ian Anderson for keeping it all together onstage. Happy 30th to fRoots. Some pics. |

Subject: RE: Roots @ The Roundhouse? From: Mrs_Annie Date: 25 Jan 10 - 09:10 AM I was there too, but been posting in so many places I forgot this one! Brilliant venue, brilliant line-up, a really excellent evenings' entertainment. Well done to Ian and fROots for putting it on. |
Subject: RE: Roots @ The Roundhouse? From: melodeonboy Date: 25 Jan 10 - 10:40 AM Yes, a great line-up. It may have been where I was sitting, but I didn't think that the vocals came across very clearly for most of the evening. June Tabor, however, sounded as clear as a bell! And I finally heard "Susie Clelland" live! Well done to the organisers! |
