Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: Bill D Date: 27 May 15 - 10:26 AM I collect freeware programs, so any math I can't do quickly, I probably have a tricky program to do it for me. (I don't really 'know' about computing, but like cars, I can drive one) |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: Genie Date: 22 May 10 - 06:58 PM Ah, yes. That does sound like Monty Python - and I think I've even seen that skit. My "retort" was just a little song snippet that popped into my philosophy-major head a number of years back. |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: Bill D Date: 21 May 10 - 06:19 PM "Nietzsche is pietzsche" Hey...y'all know what Jeremy Bentham's famous for? I kinda like Whitehead for his admonition: "Strive for simplicity, but learn to mistrust it." |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: catspaw49 Date: 21 May 10 - 06:06 PM LOL.....Good job there Genie. You managed to work Bill's favorite philosopher into his poem.....Alfred North Whitehead. Spaw |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: Genie Date: 21 May 10 - 06:01 PM Micca, I'll see your philosopher poem and raise (?) you this: "Well, Friedrich Nietzsche, but Emmanuel Kant. You once had high ideals, but Jeremy Bentham. Yes, Friedrich Nietzsche, but Emmanuel Kant -- He's just an old Whitehead with a partial Plato." |

Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: Bill D Date: 20 May 10 - 11:47 PM Thanks, Pat (& Karen)... I hope to stay 10 years ahead for 20-30 years. I have quit figgering why they tolerate me/us and just count my blessings. It's been a great day! Especially finding I had lost count, and get to stay 71 for another year! When I was in my late 20s-early 30s, I also lost track a little, and had to stop and actually think about it. I think it's sorta healthy NOT to be dwelling on the details, and just DOING stuff.....and I have a lot of wood that needs 'doing' in the next 2 weeks. Thanks to everyone for the good wishes.... |
Subject: RE: BS: Happy birthday Bill D From: catspaw49 Date: 20 May 10 - 11:27 PM Glad I got the computer back before the day was over. I started reading the thread and wondered when someone was going to correct the age. Then Bill finally did it and got it wrong. I knew this because except for about a 3 week period, we're 10 years apart. I feared I had lost a year or two somewhere though since I generally agree with Bill on about everything. Damn near gave me heart failure......and I already have way too much of that! I hope you had a great day and have an even better week and an even better yet year. My best friend Karen sends her best to you and your best friend as well. I figure they both have some kind of genetic defect as they seem to not only tolerate us but they actually seem to love us too. Anyway............. Glad you've decided to celebrate every year rather than every ten as you once planned! Pat and Karen |
