A lot of the time, the Bloc are more "Canuck" than Harper.

Just an observation... I ain't gettin into a discussion.

I've never met you Sandy, but having heard some of the lyrics you write I'd have a real problem seeing you as a person more worried about his hair than the country.

The Rhino Party might be the thing for you.

I'm likely going to vote Bloc in the next election. The MP from the area I live in is Claude Debellefeuille. I'll vote for her because she's honest. I'm fed up with crooks in government. I dislike the Bloc's language policy which just tries to strip English speakers of their language rights, but she's honest. That's a good enough reason to support a politician these days. Sad--but true.

I would be more than happy to put my name forward for PM! However under our constitution it requires me to lead a political party, so I am afraid that I have a problem with kissing enough arses to meet that qualification. In any case I appreciate the endorsement!

The troublemakers are often recruited by and sometimes are the undercover cops to incite disturbances and give an excuse to break the demonstration.

The reason that the G20 is being targeted has to do with the policies surrounding the treatment of poor countries (abusive lending practices) and environmental policies that are destructive. Also, slave labor in foreign countries with the eradication of unions, there.

Who the so-called anarchists are is unclear.

Remember that this was a suggestion made in Wisconsin by the Governor who considered breaking that demonstration by introducing troublemakers but for political reasons passed on it. He thought that it would put too much sympathy
on the side of the Union and against his tyrannical bill.

I wonder if the pool still exists? I rather doubt it.

BTW, the pool only costed $57k, which is a "fuck me!" amount for a small puddle ankle deep. The rest of the $2+M was for the deck chairs.

The bastards had the nerve to say "it was ONLY $57k"???

Sandy for PM I say!

The bastards that decided to spend a billion dollars for security in the midst of Canada's largest city are wholly to blame! This fiasco could have been held on a military base at next to no cost with sufficient security already in place. Harper's thugs are a total disgrace to anyone believing themselves to be peace officers! They acted like the bloody Gestapo!

Sorry, bobad.......... but most of those who broke the law were not police officers, but hooligans smashing windows, cars, and interfering with police work. There are plenty of videos, shown on TV, and used in making later arrests, showing these cretins.

The 'peaceful' protestors interferred with business, wasted thei own time and the publics, and were kept well clear of the G-20 leaders and their meetings.

Sorry Q, despite what you would like to believe the VAST majority were protesting peacefully as is their right under Canadian law. Most of those who broke the law were police officers and hopefully they will be prosecuted as an example to those who think they can impudently abuse innocent people. The call for an inquiry is among recommendations in the report — by the Canadian Civil Liberties Association and National Union of Public and General Employees — which is aimed at holding governments accountable and avoiding a recurrence.

Number 6- Yes, they were under the supervision of Ontario police.

The vandals at the G-20 were not fighting for rights but to disrupt a peaceful meeting of world leaders, damage the premises of Toronto merchants, and interfere with the business of the general public.

I am watching the Fifth Estate on CBC about what went on with the protests and the "police"... I am struck dumb... how could that SHIT happen in Canada? Unreal. Unacceptable. Harper should be held personally accountable for that crap.

And, in the middle of the show they broke to a press conference of him condemming Gaddafi... Jausus H!!! It's sickening. Truly sickening.

Now, there wasn't any wholesale murder, but I really don't know how that prick can sleep at night without taking responsibility for what happened and setting things right.

This will shock many people, which is a good thing.

Amy tells what happened when she was throttled, held down, cuffed, detained for nearly 13 hours, placed in a cell with 25 other young women, being told throughout that time she would be raped repeatedly and would never want to work as a journalist again. Some women were strip searched by male officers....

She's asking for an investigation. I sure hope she gets one...

Happy Canada Day...

OK, I've written this out because I feel it's important to have George's words written down, so they can be passed around. Maybe it's because George thought exactly as I do about so many things, saw through all the crap, as Iknow others do too, but I really wanted to put his words down, so here they are, and boy, this man spoke so fast, that you'd not belive it! Took me ages to get each word, but just like the brilliant words in 'Anthem for Dissent' these words need passing around, so they're worth every moment it takes to put them down in print.

I hope you enjoy them......

George Carlin's 'American Dream'

"But there's a reason, there's a reason, there's a reason for this. There's a reason education sucks and it's the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed It's never going to get any better. Don't look for it. Be happy with what you've got, because the owners of this country don't want that. I'm talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big, wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions.

Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don't. You have no choice. You have owners. They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They've long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls. They've got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear. They've got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year, lobbying, lobbying to get what they want. Well, we know what they want, they want more for themselves and less for everybody else.

But I'll tell you what they don't want, they don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don't want well-informed, well-educated people capable of critical thinking. They're not interested in that, that doesn't help them. That's against their interests. That's right. They don't want people who are smart enough to sit round the kitchen table to figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago. They don't want that.

You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paper work, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly shittier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it. And now they're coming for your social security money. They want your fucking retirement money, they want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street. And you know something? They'll get it, they'll get it all from you sooner or later, 'cos they own this fucking place. It's a big club..and you ain't in it. You and I are NOT in the Big Club.

By the way, it's the same big club they beat you over the head with all day long when they tell you what to believe, All day long beating you over the head in their media telling you what to believe, what to think and what to buy. The table is tilted, folks, the game is rigged and nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.

Good, honest, hard working people, white collar, blue collar, it doesn't matter what colour shirt you have on, good, honest, hard working people continue, and these are people of modest means, continue to elect these rich cock-suckers who don't give a fuck about them. They don't give a fuck about you, they don't give a fuck about you. They don't care about you at all, at all, at all. And nobody seems to notice, nobody seems to care.

That's what the owners count on, the fact that Americans will probably remain wilfully ignorant of the big red, white and blue dick that's being jammed up their assholes every day. Because the owners of this country know the truth, it's called The American Dream 'cos you have to be asleep to believe it."

George Carlin knew the answer to that one.......

"...They don't want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking...They don't want people smart enough to sit round the kitchen table to figure out how badly they're getting fucked by a system that threw them overboard 30 fucking years ago....."

Listen to this man...then pass his words around, his videos around...as George is no longer able to open people's eyes in his own way...at least we can continue to get his words, his thoughts out there.

From the response to the video:

"The G8 and G20 are not legitimate. The G8 and the G20 are both self-selected, exclusive groups of nations that don't have any right to be making decisions that impact the entire world! They represent less than 15% of the population of the planet and their rulings affect 100% of us, whether we like it or not. It's an enforced oligarchy, it's anti-democratic and it's anti-capitalist.

"It is important to recognize the equality of everyone's voices in the shaping of multilateral economic, climate and trade governance. The self-appointed G20 and G8, lack complete democratic legitimacy and want to replace more democratic venues for worldwide debate!"

As (quite rightly) suggested by biLL, here is a very fitting song for this thread, one that Ron (Bankley) himself plays a big part in, along with Splitting the Sky and the Native American lady who wrote it, who goes under the name of Ann Onimus, for obvious reasons..

'Anthem for Dissent'

The words are on there, in full (I sent them in)..just press the introduction bit, under the video itself..then pass them round to as many folks as possible..

I have heard via the media and 'elsewhere close to the source' that the police seem to reason that the 'perpetrators' in the crowd where from Quebec.

Don't despair, Ebbie, just get angry.   Despair leads to hopelessness, Anger leads to righting the wrongs, eventually.

And halfway through that video I posted, you'll see a Canadian Police Officer admitting they were his men...whilst trying to tell folks that no way would the one who held the rock in his hand have ever thrown it...(yeah, right)

daylia, thank you for posting that video, shocking...but not surprising. Those 'in charge' get more shit scared every single day because they know that the power of the internet is connecting people as never before, opening up the truth, recording it all in pictures...

Hopefully that video will have found it's way into the hearts and minds of many Canadian people, and others around the world...That was a totally unnecessary reaction to three people deciding to sit on the ground, others going to join them, whilst singing the Canadian National Anthem..and for that, the police charged, en masse, complete with horses...

Geez!

Heads should roll.....staring with Mr. Harper and working downwards...but hey, that ain't gonna happen is it.

Get ANGRY, people, because YOUR police just made YOUR country hang its head in shame....and told the rest of the world that The Bastards are just as much in charge in Canada as they are around the rest of the world...

BE angry, be VERY angry...and then, maybe do something about it, or...pretend it didn't happen.

Oh, and apparently, there's been a huge rise in cases of Ostrich Vision around the world, so I heard the other day...

Canadian Police Rioters - The Proof

The Bastards.......

The police have very 'welcoming' outfits don't they? I think it would be better for diffusing a situation if they dressed them in pink, with colour co-ordinated sparkly high heels and handy clutch bags, rather than baseball bats and crash helmets, but hey, what do I know..Although I did like the guys on bikes, that was a bit cool...

And of course, pink, sparkly, high heeled shoes would be so much easier to spot amongst the crowd...

We had the G20 here in Pittsburgh last year. They practically shut down the city. Downtown was closed down and boarded up. They closed the schools, and something like half the population had the day off from work.

The police cracked down seriously on anybody who even looked like they might protest for weeks before the conference. They're still trying to sort out the people who were legitimately arrested from the young people from the Universities who were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We wound up with some broken windows and a damaged ATM machine. On the last day, there was a nice, peaceful, protest. I'm all for peaceful protests. Apparently everyone cheered the Falun Gong.
