Pleased to say the festival was a success: numbers weren't down - we feared that the economic climate would give us problems but not so. Final concert attendance is often reduced by early leavers. School starting in September affects this to a degree. We feel this caused some reduction in 'youth' this year. However, the New Generation Concert was as strong as ever compered by the gorgeous and talented Niamh Boadle.

And the Urban Folk Quartet...What a performance.

Good to hear that Stu. Perhaps I got served quicker because the bar staff hadd upped their game. Bless 'em.

Thanks to all concerned for another great Festival. Already looking forward to next year.

Is it over? Could well be - Charley's visit extended the occasion by a couple of extra days with the good weather continuing - although it doesn't look so good for the Blackpool fireworks tonight. We had a good one anyway & thanks to everyone who supported us and for making DEMDYKE! even more of a success than last year. For those who wanted a disk please contact me at sean@sedayne.co.uk - hopefully there'll be something downloadable at Folk Police soon too. Otherwise, happy to say Demdyke's Mother Carey's Chicks features on the forthcoming exconfd volume of John Bareycorn Reborn - the wonderfully titled We Bring You a King With a Head of Gold - along with Rapunzel & Sedayne's Robin Sick & Weary and Sedayne:Sundog's Names of the Hare.

So - great festival, great music, great people, great weather - only one sour point but we won't go into that; rest assured the folk scene is too small (& life too short) for such grudge bearing & unprevoked hostility. Excellent thriving singarounds hosted by Ron, the lovely Norma and Lynn, Spitting on a Roast and special mention must be made of the redoubtable Joe Boe who stepped into Penny Black's shoes with customary panache (get well soon, John - our thoughts are with you). Thanks to Derek Gifford for making The Big Sing & In the Tradition the memorable sets they were; to Niamh Boadle for truly exquisite musicianship; to Jim Diamond for moving me to tears with his reconstruction of High Barbaree; to Sally for keeping me enthralled for hours in the Marine Hall bar; to all at The Steamer and The Mount for great food & hearty welcomes; to Simon for the sound; to Dave Jones for being the cosummate MC; and to Alan Bell, Rusty, Stu and everyone on the commitee, without whom...

See you next year? Let's hope so!

S O'P / Sedayne

S O'P. Was that Hugh Diamond(singer/accordianist) rather than Jim? Sincere appologies if not but I had the privilege and great pleasure of being in the company of Hugh at the Victoria on Saturday lunchtime. A special person and hopefully a new found friend.

A long time friend of Fylde, and a performer with his own take on a song.

We were pleased to have him join in our Mount Musicians' session.

...the forthcoming exconfd volume of John Bareycorn Reborn...

Which should read ...the forthcoming second volume of John Barleycorn Reborn, a double CD set from Coldspring. Volume One is worth checking out too...

Jim Diamond (Hi Ho Silver Lining - the theme tune from "Boon" with Michael Elphick) is related to Hugh. Can't speak to Jim's qualities in that respect, but Hugh Diamond is a rare treasure of the folk world, and it was great to see him on form. In the days long ago when my house was accessible to visitors, he was one of (I think) about seven guests under my roof for the festival week-end. I wish I had the space again!

Hmmmm - an autumn project maybe? Otherwise, The Mount Pavilion is open tomorrow, along with other Fleetwood landmarks - Farmer Parr's included - if you fancy it...

Just a final word on Fylde '10. I am assured tht Alan Bell has booked the same weather for Fylde 2011.
