Swanage festival (in Dorset) is this coming weekend. Derek and I will be there, running singarounds in the Red Lion, and so (according to the Wail thread) will Old Vermin.

The festival website says that weekend seasons have all sold out, and so has the Show of Hands concert but individual concert tickets are still available for Vin Garbutt, Isambarde and Artisan. And we'll be pleased to welcome singers (with or without instruments) in the Red Lion.

Kitty

Unusual for seasons to sell out. Used to buy ours on arrival.

Anyway, this year we're scheduled to be dancing elsewhere - Heritage Weekend - on the Saturday but doing safety/race officer stuff at Swanage on the Sunday morning. This should leave Sunday lunchtime onwards for festival. All being well, Red Lion lunchtime, then watch parade and perhaps Artisan in the evening.

Weather forecast at For Poole read Swanage currently showing a sunny Sunday.

Hope to see you there.

"Should leave Sunday lunchtime" - timings can slip, but intend to wend my way up the High St to the Red Lion, probably both of us. Worrying that I still think of the landlord there as being Fred the Red - about two or three landlords back.

I expect to be there, with Bourne River. Saw Show of Hands at Dartmoor, good concert.

Tickled Pink doing the ceilidh, with Gordon Potts calling.

We would love to go, of course ,but after 5 days at Towersey, one day at home, then another 5 days at Bunkfest , we have had enough for a while !! "Bunkfest" was GREAT this year,by the way ; best "act" ? Isambarde , of course !! (our favourites !).

The Mrs will be there. Playing in the marquee on Friday night with Isambarde & others, Saturday afternoon with Vin Garbutt and Sunday afternoon with Isambarde, The Bounty Hounds and others.

On the other hand, I'll be at home in Yorkshire...... childminding! Oh fun.

It's a pity that Swanage clashes with Bromyard, otherwise I would be there. It is also a good weekend on the railway, with a transport rally at Harman's Cross and Gala, with up to 7 engines in steam.

Starts today!

Banjiman - it would be great to see your Mrs in the Red Lion if Wendy can find time between the spots you've already mentioned!

Kitty,

Wendy's just left (it's a long way from North Yorks!) but she fully intends to join singarounds & sessions. She knows that The Red Lion is the place to be!

Incidently, I think she is intending to come to Herga FC on November 8th as she has a free night while she is touring down south.

Have fun, I wish I could be there.

Paul

Wish we could get along, but house-clearing waits for no man, not even Richard! Maybe next year, I'll pop a note in my diary.

Have a Fab Weekend, safe journeys!

Thanks very much to Wendy for your songs on both Friday and Saturday evening - lovely to meet and hear you at last, and I very much hope you can make it to Herga on 8 November.

Thanks to Sue the Borderer for taking over last night's session after midnight.

Thanks also to Old Vermin for your contributions to the singaround today!

And of course, thanks to the Red Lion and the festival organisers for another great Swanage Festival weekend!

Looking forward to next year.

Kitty

Kitty, I think you might see us at Swanage next year. Bromyard was very disappointing for singing sessions.

Kitty, thank you and Derek for running the session. Particular thanks to Sue the Border for telling me at Sidmouth that I really should try leading choruses. No threat of perfection, but a vast improvement, anyway, on my previous efforts elsewhere some years ago. Thanks for the support, all, thoroughly appreciated to have people joining in well.

Got there later than I meant to - was doing other things, fleetingly involved in the beginnings of
the 12th September morning incident , then a very quick lunch and diversion via the box-office, so really only caught the tail-end of the session. Mrs V missed it; had an unexpected large batch of race results to do. We did eat at the field & heard Artisan in the church, though. Then to SiL's to talk about SiL's new first grand-child. So a rather long day out.

Could have used getting to the Red Lion earlier of course. That said, what there I was there for was good, as always. Did like the way the bikers at the other end of the bar went very quiet for the rather shy Scots girl singing there for the first time.

Good to now Marion's name and know she runs a club at Andover and to here both of them. I had only known them as a couple who contribute wonderful things round the fire at Singfest / ex-Choirfest in Surrey. That voice!

Inadvertently posted earlier draft - hence typos and linguistic nonsenses - sorry.

I've just spoken to Wendy and she says what a fantastic weekend she's had.

I think her stage slots went well and I know she really enjoyed the Red Lion singarounds and sessions.

I'm already plotting to use the "Grandmother's Childminding Service" to ensure I can come with her next year!!!

We would like to say thank you to Kitty and Derek for running a well organised singaround on Friday and Saturday and inviting us to sing, also to Sue White for carrying it on late on Saturday and the 2 of Kimbers men who stayed the distance. We stayed for the concert in the marquee on Sunday which was also very good with Isambarde finishing the afternoon off, 3 encores, that has to be a record, they were absolutely exceptional.
