Equality Act becomes law in the UK

Nine separate pieces of legislation now under one banner finally

More rights for more people as it Equality Act comes into force

I did wonder whether they would keep their promises and put this through. It seems they have kept most of them.

Some pretty major changes on the way as to how services can be offered and on the employment front too.

Interesting. I wish we had some of the same over here, esp. the equal pay. It will also be interesting to see how the new laws play out with the Archbishop of Canterbury and gay bishops.

There are all sorts of inequalities, even in the so-called "free world", but you are quite right about how the glass ceiling seems to work around a great many female positions.

It will be interesting to see how it all pans out as the first test cases end up in the courts but, hopefully, the best thing that may come from it is that people put their houses in order before it has to come to that

I understand that `equal pay` has been law in the USA since 1963. Problem seems to be enforcement.

999,. similar things happen here. We have a guaranteed minimum wage here too but many people work much below it

I hear that, mp. Too many people are working and still coming in below the poverty line regarding income. It`s disgusting, that`s for sure.
