I am back Ray, I have listened to all the 49songs and was exceedingly well entertained.
Good to hear the songs sung without accompaniment, as they were probably written to be.
I will see you on Monday at Barnsley Folk Club and will settle with you then.
Thought I could sing a few Eric Bogle songs to celebrate my 6 weeks in Australia, if that is acceptable?
See you on Monday.

Having rave reviews and others pointing out all the discrepancies, etc of course

Listen to my Poor old Weaver's Daughter too! straight from Frank Hinchliffe but with my arrangement

2 CDs a MUST for all aspiring young English Traditional singers (I am told!!)

JUst to let people know that Mr Kidman's not too flattering review that the 2CD set is available

Living Tradition no 88 carry on their website David's Review and my contact details are there two ~ didn't make it to the official pages of LT!

I consider myself certainly an English song Carrier:

Tykes' News Reviewer; Nigel Schofield "my copy of this Cd will rightly earn its place among those key works that combine academic reference and listemning pleasure by Cox, Jordan, Larner and The Coppers"

Praise indeed I feel!

Ray

Praise in deed

Hi Ray, I certainly believe that your CD is good and I have spent many hours listening to and learning from my copy.
I have not read either of the two Reviews and have formed my own opinion as to its considerable value to myself.

Rest assured Raymond it is indeed a fine recording that will be of inestimable value to those that follow us in the years to come, as every word is distinct, and so the song can easily be learnt or passed on, so very few recordings have this, yet it is vital.
You did an exceptionally fine job, ignore anyone poking a stick at it!
Now Lad get your feet up and get your health fully recovered,
Best Wishes from Lancashire's Fair Acres,
Scowie.

Just got back from a stay in Scotland to find this latest series of posts to the thread.
I'm really glad to hear you're "coming on a treat" now Ray, and look forward to seeing you up and about again before too long.
It's always a treat to hear you sing, and I have long valued your experience, opinions and good sense in matters of song.
I do however take issue with your assessment of my review as "not too flattering". Yes, in my considered analysis I pointed out some drawbacks and discrepancies, primarily concerning the actual presentation of the set; but after all, that's part of any conscientious reviewer's duty!
I would suggest you read again the all-important concluding sentence - "Even notwithstanding its "ha'porth of tar" aspects, though, this enjoyable and entertaining release constitutes an indispensible archive resource; Ray is thus to be heartily congratulated for his initiative and personal achievement."
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to full health, Ray.
