Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: Bob the Postman Date: 21 Jan 11 - 06:16 PM Definitely Equador. I think camel hair brushes are made from badger hair. Purple finches are a pinkish red. Chinese gooseberries come from New Zealand. |

Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 23 Jan 11 - 08:38 PM Oh dear, Here I sit, brokenhearted, I paid a penny, and only farted... |
Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: ragdall Date: 23 Jan 11 - 09:06 PM I only knew 7, 8 and 9. I guess I'll be stuck in high school forever? Foolestroupe, where did you find a bathroom for only a penny? Even in Hungary it's the equivalent of USA 50 cents. |
Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: The Fooles Troupe Date: 23 Jan 11 - 11:22 PM My grandfather told me that... :-) It's OLD folkllore ... don't remember the rest of it. I can remember back in the 1950s there were a few very old public toilets that I saw with the penny mechanism here in Aust. None around now that I know of - too much trouble and temptation. |
Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: Charmion Date: 24 Jan 11 - 08:16 AM The only price I ever saw charged in Canada was 10 cents. In Germany, it was 20 pfennig. And I haven't seen a pay toilet at all in years and years. |
Subject: RE: BS: High school exit exam From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 24 Jan 11 - 08:40 AM Whatever price they charged, it was always "spend a penny", from the good old pre-decimalisation days when you could find one without a microscope. I remember thinking that one good thing about devaluation when the pound dropped from $2.80 to $2.40 was that now a penny would be the same as a US cent. |
