Anybody who heard Prairie Home Companion this weekend already knows this. But it's important news, so for those who haven't heard:

I know all Mudcatters are aware of the huge trend toward consolidation.    Small companies have no chance any more.   Even big companies are swallowing each other up or merging to form even bigger companies, as world capitalism continues its relentless march.

The latest merger is between Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube, to form a gigantic social-networking company.   It's called:   YouTwitFace.

And FedEx and UPS have now merged- it is to be called FedUp.

(On the BBC last night it was announced that ICBC, the giant Chinese bank which holds more in loans than any other in the world, ate a smaller Chinese bank that was doing business in the U. S.)

Ebbie, is it true that FedUp wil only serve Fedups?

I don't know if it's mine or not, Ron. Several years ago a group of us were sitting around desultorily making music and cracking wise in between. I may have latched onto someone else's thought.

Peter Paul Candy company, makers of the Almond Joy bar are buying out Butterfinger. They are going to market a new product called Butter Peter Finger Joy.
