A friend of mine posted this on her FB page...and it is amazing....it is a photography project, depicting a woman battling poverty, addiction, and AIDS, telling her story by photographs. I think it is a story that should be told:

So horribly horribly depressing. This puts a face on the work my mother did, as a psychiatric social worker in Child Protective Services. There were families like this in her caseload, and they had to get the babies at the hospital to spare them lives of abused misery.

I went through every page. I can't imagine how Darcy made it through that whole experience. I guess it says as much about her ability to connect with Julie as it says about Julie and her life. It's also easy to miss the fact that there was love in her life, and some joy along the way. Black and white photos are so stark and unforgiving.
