Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 18 Feb 12 - 05:53 PM Said it before, JtS... I found Brady to be off his game. One of the best of all time but "off". Pressure... of course... but he still wasn't "Brady" on that given Sunday. And it wasn't just him. The errors added up to the final score, plain and simple. And, again, hats off to NY for playing a heck of a game. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 18 Feb 12 - 05:40 PM I've been away foe a while. Great game. Give the Giants front four credit. Brady did his part, considering the pressure he was fantastic!. If Gronk had been healthy he probably would have had that "Hail Mary in the end zone. He reminds me of Charles Barkley when the ball is up for grabs. On the other hand, with Gronk healthy, Brady probably would not have had to throw that pass. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 09 Feb 12 - 02:11 PM Did you hear about Whelker? I HEARD someone loaded a truck with 900# of Butterfingers chocolate bars... and dumped them "in front of him". That really pisses me off... if it's true. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 06 Feb 12 - 11:26 PM Bill, that was a perfect pass, AND the catch was spectacular. Manning couldn't have put it in a better spot. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 12 - 09:49 PM Well, Eli threw the ball and it got there. More than once. I think he deserves some credit, no? After all, he's got a ring... and he's MVP in the Big Show eh? Good on him! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Bill D Date: 06 Feb 12 - 09:31 PM "Manning made it, ..." Yes, but HIS receiver made him look good! The catch that put the Giants back in the game was one that 9 out of 10 would NOT have caught. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: GUEST,olddude Date: 06 Feb 12 - 07:19 PM That game and both offense and defense teams were so evenly matched that one play is all it took. It could have gone either way at anytime. Manning made it, Tom tried but didn't .. all in all a superb game like a great game of chess |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 06 Feb 12 - 05:17 PM When Grogan replaced Eason, the Pats stopped imploding, but it was already too late, both for the Pats' Superbowl hopes and for Eason's career. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 12 - 04:45 PM Tony... nostalgia minds me of Grogan. All time NFL broken bones. Not necessarily an award anyone would want. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Dave MacKenzie Date: 06 Feb 12 - 04:18 PM I thought for afew horrible minutes we were being treated to the Tony Eason era Patriots, but at least Brady recovered to make them Competitive. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: J-boy Date: 06 Feb 12 - 02:40 PM It's gonna be a loooong off season. Sigh... |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 06 Feb 12 - 02:32 PM Yeah... not all of those drops were catchable. Fact is, even if very few players err on very few plays, you can still win. But if even one player errs on successive plays... there it is. The Giants did a great job. The Pats, well, there ya go. I did not like the play calling and overall strategy by the Pats. The only reason I say that is that I felt that way by the end of the first quarter. By the end of the first half I was still not convinced. End of 3rd, I was getting pissed off. In the end, Brady was not on his game and Manning was. Brady made some bad decisions, almost as if he was nervous and unfocussed. I still think he is one of the best of all time but he wasn't yesterday. I think he is gonna work on his mobility in the off season. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 06 Feb 12 - 11:48 AM Welker's drop, which would have put the Pats on the 10 I believe, was a miss on a rather tough pass which he had to leap and lay out for. It's just amazing to me when Welker gets his hands on any pass and can't bring it in, because he is so consistent. The Hernandez drop in the final drive was the killer though...right on his numbers. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: olddude Date: 06 Feb 12 - 10:33 AM dropped passes was a big factor for sure. Last year my Steeler's couldn't catch a cold ... but the Giants defense was very well prepared. A great game for sure, any game that can go either way with one play gets me on the edge of my seat. That pass from Eli for 38 yards. The safety was was off the play hanging too far out .. Well there goes my superbowl signed football as i have no Giant connections ... next year maybe |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: ranger1 Date: 06 Feb 12 - 07:12 AM As a die-hard Patriots fan, yes, it was a great game. Just wish the receivers could have managed to catch the damn ball on that last drive! |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Lonesome EJ Date: 06 Feb 12 - 12:05 AM They let Brady down. He was up to the job. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: GUEST,olddude Date: 05 Feb 12 - 10:45 PM One of the best games I have seen period ... exciting down to the last second. Any football fan has to applaud that game ... wow |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 05 Feb 12 - 09:59 PM Great game! Enjoyed it. Up until the last bit, of course. See yas next year. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 05 Feb 12 - 08:02 PM I was never worried. >;-) No Gronk... no Gonzalez... no Hernadez... little Welker... Wilfork getting doubled and no response with changeup until nearly the half... Like I said, Yankee football is a game of chess. And NObody plays chess better than The Belly. Yeah, on any given Sunday... I know... but I wanted a close and exciting game and that's what I am getting. I want the Pats to win but I want an exciting game, no matter who wins. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 04 Feb 12 - 05:19 PM I liked the interview with Belichick when he said he is trying to moderate the intensity of prep so they are peaking at 6PM tomorrow. That has been his top goal every year, every game. He is a genius at doing it. He's got my vote as the best coach of all time. And, yes, I know... but, I do think he is the best or near best of all time. Fact is, it's gonna be quite a game no matter what. These two teams are top notch. Just like the last time they went to the show together. I just hope it's close right down to the whistle. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: J-boy Date: 04 Feb 12 - 04:59 PM I think Ochocinco will step his game up tomorrow. Just a hunch. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Elmore Date: 04 Feb 12 - 10:20 AM I'm sure Gronkowski will play, but look for Brady to go to Welker, Hernandez, and others. Pats have had defense problems, but have been better recently. It feels like the offense has inspired the defense. I wish the damn game would start. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 03 Feb 12 - 02:29 PM Pats defense is good. So, what kind of fare will be had by youse? I am so tempted to get all kinds of stuff but will probably stick with fruit and veggies and leftover turkey. After losing 100#, I just don't have the same "Screw it." attitude. But the trays in the grocery stores look decadent. I hope I can resist. |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: olddude Date: 03 Feb 12 - 02:21 PM Well if the Pats do win I will snag us some SB signed stuff. But I am leaning to the Giants and that defense ... man they are goo |
Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 03 Feb 12 - 01:52 PM The Gronk is good to go... good news. Having both of hose big tight ends in the game means a lot. GO PATS! |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: Jack the Sailor Date: 22 Jan 12 - 07:14 PM Pats were luck for sure. The Niners and Giants have more balance than the Ravens. The Pats will have to elevate their game in two weeks to win. |

Subject: RE: BS: NFL 2011 (US football) From: gnu Date: 22 Jan 12 - 04:44 PM That was not out of bounds. Bad call. No challenge? Then again, Brady wasn't called for intentional grounding not long before. Smart move to take two kees before the half. Good game. |
