Hi,
i'll be getting married in 2012, so i have a lot of time to organize everything. But i want to ask you if you know a venue in London where i will be allowed to sing:) I mean, during the wedding party, i'd like to grab a mike and sing a few songs. I'd like of course do a few rehearsals with the band i will hire(i don't know which one yet). But i want to do rehearsals in this venue. That's the problem, could you recommend one? I found here many wedding venues in London. Please, if you know which one will allow rehearsals, point those;)
Thank you in advance.

I don't think I'd get married just to get a gig. However bad things got.

Look - you're getting married, its your day. Wherever you go nobody is going to stop you. the band will be honoured. You'll have a great day. the reviews will be fabulous.

I was singing and playing at my daughter's wedding last year at the Star & Garter in Putney - 0208 788 0345.

I would have thought most venues would have allowed you to sing just speak to the events co-ordinator at your chosen venue and they should accomodate your wishes as it's your day.

Enjoy the planning and your day

At one outdoor wedding I played for, the groom sang one song to/for his bride just before the vows were spoken.

At another, both bride and groom sat down with us at the reception and played.

As said above, it's your day.

Your comment about rehearsal with the band is a good one - There is nothing worse than being asked to accompany ANYONE let alone the bride at a wedding when they dont even know what key the sing in !
At least . make sure the band wuill be happy about backing you when you book them . and DONT expect the guy with the D35 to let all and sundry borrow his guitar .

Just bear in mind that if you want to rehearse with the band, you'll probably need to pay them extra for rehearsal time and, if you want to rehearse at the venue where you are getting married, you'll need to pay a hire fee for the room as well. It will be a complex matter - getting the band and instruments to the venue, setting up, getting to know you etc. Much simpler if you could rehearse with them at a place they usually meet. Could be miles from where they live etc

It would probably get quite expensive if you want to hire the band and venue for rehearsals beforehand.. If they're really good players then they'd probably be OK as long as you told them which songs you wanted to sing (and made sure you knew the keys!). That might not be much help to you, though I'm sure the emotional impact of your performance will be more important than the slickness.

Otherwise you chould try forming a scratch band with members of your family! Best of luck whatever you do
