Subject: Beeswing, help! From: Peter T. Date: 09 Sep 99 - 02:09 PM In various threads, people have mentioned "Beeswing" as probably Richard Thompson's best song. I have three major record stores in my city, with about 12 of his albums to choose from, none of which have Beeswing on it -- I understand it appears on a 1996-7 album no longer out there (or here). Does anyone know of any other version that is reasonably faithful by some well-known person or group that I could get on CD without going through mailorder? (I will probably end up doing this anyway). Posting the music does me no good as my computer hasn't got enough memory for this. yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Beeswing, help! From: campfire Date: 09 Sep 99 - 02:19 PM Peter T - Beeswing is on Mirror Blue. I also have it on a WONDERFUL compilation disc called "Acoustic Edge" on Rhino Records (R2 71969). It was in a "various artists" bin at my local Barnes and Noble store. If you can't find either locally, drop me a personal message and I'll find a way to loan you one of mine. It is a great song. campfire |

You can buy a copy of _Mirror Blue_here
I found this thread quite a coincidence since I finally just got a copy myself and have been trying to figure it out the last couple of weeks. I found some tab, but whomever transcribed it must have been smoking crack at the time -- it's practically useless.
While we're on the topic, can somebody at least verify whether or not he uses the DADGBE tuning for this one? BTW I just saw the Richard Thompson Band last Sunday. WooHOO! While they played a rip-roarin' 2-1/2 hour set, they didn't play this one. (However, I was fortunate enough to see him solo in a small venue last year, when he DID play it. Aboslutely GORGEOUS!)
