Subject: RE: Chord Req: Help Please RT's Beeswing From: Cattail Date: 20 Sep 04 - 03:39 PM Hi Murray. Yes you are probably right in what you say, I wouldn't be knowing really, as I'm not good enough to work anything more complicated than that out for myself, however it does give me something to work to and doesn't sound too bad against the "Mirror Blue" recording. From what I have seen when looking around the web for RT's songs, there is always a bit of controversy about how RT actually played them as he never seems to play them the same way twice. I saw him on his tour this year and I,(like the rest of the audience), was totally blown away by this man, what a performance! You could have heard a pin drop in the theatre during his songs. NOT to be missed if he comes your way. Best wishes Cattail ! |

Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: Herge Date: 27 Jan 07 - 08:59 AM Hi I play it in DADGAD - and use the following chords or guggestions: (D) I was (G) nineteen when I (D) came to town They called it the (G) Summer of (D) Love They were burning (G) babies, (D) burning flags The (Bm) Hawks against the (G) Doves I took a job in the Steamie Down on Cauldrum Street I fell in love with a laundry girl Was working next to me CHORUS (Bm) She was a rare thing Fine as a (D) beeswing (Bm) So fine a breath of (D) wind might blow her (G) away She was a (Bm) lost child She was (D) running wild, she said As (Bm) long as there's no (D) price on love, I'll (G) stay And you (F sharp m?) (dont know name of this chord is a step down from G) wouldn't (Em) want me (F sharp m?) any other (D) way |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: Phil Cooper Date: 27 Jan 07 - 09:08 AM I play it in DADGAD, pretty much like Herge. I think Thompson plays it in Dropped D, standard (the one time I saw him play it). He is probably using some partial chords of which we can't figure out. I shift to A for a couple measures during the instrumental interlude, before going back to the D progression. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: Herge Date: 27 Jan 07 - 09:34 AM Sorry should be: (D) I was (G) nineteen when I (D) came to town They called it the (G) Summer of (D) Love They were burning (G) babies, (D) burning flags The (A) Hawks against the (G) Doves |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: GUEST,Johnmc Date: 28 Jan 07 - 09:28 AM The chords I use (with capo as required) are, with the 6th to D, an A bar across strings2,3 and 4 using the first finger, and adding the note e played with the pinkie at fret V. Once you've played the descending figure, you play the sixth string with finger three at fret V and add finger one at string 2, third fret, to give you the G chord of the intro. The song starts on D shape, adding finger one to string five, second fret, followed by open sixth string to give you the bass figure under the chord. All fingerpicked. Hope this gets you started. |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: GUEST Date: 28 Jan 07 - 02:31 PM thanks for the suggestions i dont know very much about dadgad so i need the chord shapes really! :( |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: breezy Date: 28 Jan 07 - 03:00 PM In the chorus I believe there are a few more chord movemnts from the Bm play A on 'THeres' 'Breath' G on 'price' 'wind' A on 'Love' 'blow' G on 'stay' 'away' I dont care for the A on Hawks , i stay on the D see if that helps , I think the chord changes on every syllable Go with the dropped D and pick out the melody on the top strings. i use the D shape w playing G on the 7th fret It starts on the 5th fret, using either long D chord, or 7th fret A shape , [D chord] all the best, great song Keep your distance is a doddle |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: Nick Date: 29 Jan 07 - 09:13 AM Have a look on YouTube with the following search - beeswing - and it comes up with several versions of him playing it. Having a quick look at the chord shapes I would say he plays it with a dropped D tuning. If you combine the various performances you should be able to pick up most of it by eye |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Beeswing chords- has anyone got them? From: GUEST Date: 30 Jan 07 - 03:19 PM I have already seen all the versions on Yootube but the camera seems to move away at important bits and he goes too fast for me to take in. Also, he is using chords i dont recognise |
