Subject: Fureys on Tour From: GUEST Date: 14 Mar 11 - 01:20 PM I see the Fureys are coming to a venue near me. I'm confused over the line up. Am I right in thinking the one I think of as the lead singer from all there old albums isn't in the line up any more? |
Subject: RE: Fureys on tour From: GUEST,Charley O'Neill Date: 14 Mar 11 - 01:37 PM Finbar Furey, master pipes player and singer of sweet sixteen has not been in the band for many years. I think he is now more of a cabaret type singer. Not sure if Davey Arthur is back with them.I hear on good authority that they are still a decent act. The word decent is however of course subjective. |
Subject: RE: Furesy on Tour From: GUEST Date: 14 Mar 11 - 01:55 PM Davey Arthur is billed as being with them T Hull. I noticed a rendition of LOnesome Boatment by a youngish member of the band which sounded absolutley superb. |
Subject: RE: Furesy on Tour From: Brian May Date: 14 Mar 11 - 03:03 PM I'm booked to see them in Doncaster - next month I think |
Subject: RE: Fureys on Tour From: Sandy Mc Lean Date: 15 Mar 11 - 02:59 PM Finbar is missing and Paul died a few years ago. I would still go to see them again though. I just would not expect what I saw back in the 80's. They were awesome in those days but I only seen them live once. The Old Man remains one of my all time favourite songs because of the emotion that Finbar could express in it. Of course the song was written by Phil Coulter expressly for them after the death of their father Ted. |
Subject: RE: Fureys on Tour From: GUEST Date: 15 Mar 11 - 06:10 PM yeah, great in the 80's, they had already gone down the cabaret route a fair bit, but I remember a fine performance in barnsley in 86/87ish.Never saw them back in the day when finbar and eddie played as a duo, I believe this was more the real deal |
