The time has come for me to part with a Complete Set of the Greig-Duncan Folk Song Collection. All eight volumes in pristine codition. I have owned these from new and they come from a non-smoking house
I hope that the blue clicky will work to connect you to E-Bayhttp://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=260816648702&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT

Vic they are like Virginity, you can only sell them once
As a full set they are not very common.
Why not buy the set and sell the oddments

Hmm, I'd like to ask you the price of all 8 - but with the PM system disabled at the moment, I cannot and with the way someone is treating Mudcat at the moment, I am reluctant to give my email address here.

I don't "do" ebay, but i think, Vic, that the idea is that you bid for them online ... :-)

Well, the current bid is £151.00, which is a bargain. There are seven days left in the bidding, so I'm betting the price will go much higher. I think I paid Dick Greenhaus $300 US for my set a couple or three years ago. It really is a wonderful collection.
Looks like the only individual volumes currently on eBay are volumes 1 and 8. I found volumes 2, 3, 4, 7, and 8 through Bookfinder.com in the US - about $40 to $50 a volume, usually.

Derek , Don't be a luddite. Ebay is an incredible vehicle for buying and selling. Oh and I do understand Luddism, my Factory was built in the 1880's to keep out the Luddites and the Chartists and is still known locally as "Rowleys Gaol". There are no windows in the walls only in the roof making the work-space a wonderful light environment. The original land-owner was Hon.Rev. Augustus Byron the father of Ada Loveless the First Computer Programmer and the brains behind Babbidge

I'd be happy with all volumes except the first one (already got) and thought I might hake a bid for the ebay lot when it was at £50 .... silly me!

One of the international express companies probably cheaper than post for something like this. About US$50-60/volume, which is less than a subject like this would sell for if printed today.
I paid about $150 for a complete 3 volume set of Marius Barbeau, French Canadian folk songs, recently.

Bookfinder.com has Vols 1, 2 & 8 from about £23 - hard to tell which volume from their listings, but if you click on the price you'll get to the individual seller's description.

Full sets listed at £635 - £651 (4 listings, but these entries may all refer to the same offer (through different websites).

These vols 1 2 and 8 are just the tag end of the over-print, in other words they are remainder stock. The chances of finding the other volumes are a bit like looking for a "Bacon Bagle Bar in Bethlehem" you can look but sure as God made little apples(well we all know he did'nt) you ain't going to find them.
It is very impressive the amount of interest that good old Mudcat has generated.
It is possible to find that odd elusive vol, I once found Vol 10 of the 1882 Child Ballads from the same Bookseller in Vermont that sold the other 9 Vols to a bookseller in England that I bought. First time the hair on the back of my neck stood up when I realised what I had found in a little Bookshop in Gloucestershire. Thank you Mr Valentine

Well, they eventually went for £336.50..... then I went to the dentist this morning and he said that he suggested that I have a filling and a crown replaced - for £365. I know what I'd rather spend that money on... always assuming that I had that much to spare.

CAMSCO has been trying to get a license to re-issue the set. So far, no luck.
