Subject: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 05 Aug 11 - 10:57 PM Thanks Tea Party Republicans! Lower debt rating, Of course Standard an Poors is to be trusted. They did such a good job on the Housing market and they only shortchanged the United States by 2 trillion when calculating this turd. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Rapparee Date: 05 Aug 11 - 11:05 PM Moody's left the rating at AAA, but is watching and waiting. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Bobert Date: 06 Aug 11 - 09:58 AM There is a reason for the "poors" in the S&P... They admittedly misplaced a decimal point and when Treasury made them aware of their own mathematical mistake of over $2T their response was "No body is perfect" just before downgrading the nation's credit??? Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 11 - 10:02 AM Another piece of weirdness in a very weird couple of years. If you wrote in a novel that the economic fate of the country was being held in the hands of a lunatic that paints himself orange and that even he wasn't the looniest of the lot by a long shot, critics would pan you for being too surreal. |

Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: GUEST,Peter K (Fionn) Date: 06 Aug 11 - 01:49 PM What did anyone expect after Congress signalled to the world that honouring US debts was not a priority? S&P's had certainly given plenty of warning. It's just another step to the dollar losing reserve-currency status. The lesson for the US is simple: if you don't want the Chinese dictating how you run your economy, try living within your means. |

Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: gnu Date: 06 Aug 11 - 02:08 PM The Chinese press has been, ahhh, blunt in it's condemnation of the US policies... borrowing at will os OVER; cut military and social spending; stop the "petty politics" (my paraphrasing); and so on. And they can put their money where their mouth is. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 11 - 02:14 PM The Chinese have no say in it. You owe a few thousand, Its your problem, you owe a million (or 1.2 trillion) its is the bank's problem. But S&P did make the 2 trillion mistake. They are not to be taken too seriously. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Bobert Date: 06 Aug 11 - 02:34 PM S&P knew about the $2T mistake on their part but they had already made up their minds that they were going to do the downgrade even though when that $2T is taken into account our debt was well within the AAA guidelines... S&P is the Rasmussen Poll of rating agencies... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 06 Aug 11 - 02:37 PM They ALL screwed the pooch on the housing debacle. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Donuel Date: 06 Aug 11 - 09:23 PM In two months S&P said they could possibly adjust it again. The CEO intimated that getting back a AAA rating is at least 2 YEARS down the road at best. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Bobert Date: 06 Aug 11 - 09:31 PM S&P is a shill for the Tea Party... Screw 'um... Hope that the stock market crashes and burns so that the rich will know what it's like for the other 95% of *US*... Then what will the Tea Party do??? Go whistling by the cemetery??? B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: GUEST,songbob Date: 07 Aug 11 - 05:19 PM Actually, S&P put the onus on the Republican'ts (that's Republican + "T") and did the down-rating based on the political instability rather than the debt as such. I suspect having most of a political party taking oaths to private parties and not to the Constitution can't have a good ending, no matter what. To whom to these people belong -- Grover Norquist or Uncle Sam? I find it pretty scary that their primary oath seems to be to a single person, not to our country. Songbob |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Donuel Date: 07 Aug 11 - 06:01 PM Naw they are not a shill for the Koch Bros tea party. Not even billionaires want to pay higher interest rates. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: gnu Date: 07 Aug 11 - 06:14 PM Ahhh...don't the rich CHARGE interest rates? |

Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Bobert Date: 07 Aug 11 - 07:28 PM Well, no matter how you cut it, Obama will be remembered as the president in office when it was down-graded... I don't see how that can be avoided... Think about it in another way... Tim Geittner spent all week trying to talk S7P off the ledge... Not Jim Demint... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Peter K (Fionn) Date: 08 Aug 11 - 04:28 PM Anonymous guest, the last time I checked, all three major credit-rating agencies (S&P's, Moody's and Fitch) were all maintaining the UK's triple-A rating. I think you've been looking at a rating issued by a Chinese agency some months ago; an agency that obviously exerts minimal influence. |

Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: gnu Date: 09 Aug 11 - 03:26 PM I think Beck is playing here soon. Skip to the last paragraph and then come back to this one. I love it. You ever hear any Joe Satriani? There's a tune that I was reminded of when I watched that Beck clip... some of the licks are verbatim on this tune... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4fPv450OYM BTW, if I ever am stupid enough to fall in love again and even stoopider enough to have a ceremony, i would like that one to be the "first dance". Now... Bobert, Joe does some serious headbangin... here's ONE... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MjNAeELQ_Z8&feature=related |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 09 Aug 11 - 03:30 PM Beck clip? Beck does use samples in some recordings. It could be the same licks. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: pdq Date: 09 Aug 11 - 03:59 PM There may be a generational problem here. Many people will assume that "Beck" means guitar-rock pioneer Jeff Beck. There is a younger guy from Los Angeles who calls himself just "Beck" who is rather weird IMO. |
Subject: RE: BS: Holy AA+ Batman From: Jack the Sailor Date: 09 Aug 11 - 04:07 PM If they meant Jeff Beck wouldn't they say Jeff Beck? |
