Me. I am gonna do my hair. Once a month or so it gets shaggy and I don my cape and take the shears to it. Well, the stuff on the sides. But, that's about all there is on the go that's exciting.

What's all the buzz wit yee fellers?

It's about 10.30pm here in UK, and I've just fed the three Siamese cats. My husband is already in bed, plugged in to his iPod. I'm about to go to bed too. Goodnight gnu!

I was out cutting trees for my honey, who cuts my hair, and got stung 20 times by hornets. I am sitting and throbbing.

Finished a plumbing repair at home and decided the tap for the bathroom radiator was rather messy. Thought it would make a nice little thing to have a go at with my new mini lathe. Took me a few hours and I wound up making it in 3 pieces but it kept me occupied and it does the job.

here

Off to watch some tv and play mandola before bed now the living room is empty.

Jack, I hope you're ok. That many stings would ruin TL or me.

I've had a good birthday with my Truelove and family, trimmed a chicken beak, checked on the hatched and hatching chicks, watered the fruit tree nursery, checked on the chicks, and will now put up my feet for 15 minutes until it's time to make supper.

Maeve

Basically a lazy day. Spent the morning taking my turn at the gallery desk for the art association. Then as it happened the same association had a picnic in the park this afternoon, and we just got home.

Covered in dust and HOT...making a large (11 1/2" dia.) bowl of very nice Mahogany....taking breaks by watching the story of Wake Island in Dec. 1941.

The bowl came out MUCH better than the defenders of Wake.

So far, I'd say it's a toss up between the hornets and the bowl, although trimming chicken beaks does sound intriguing.

I opted to save shaving my curly locks for the morrow as cooking burger I froze two years ago will be quite the adventure... well, eating it might be an adventure... well, digesting it might be an adventure, of course... could take up the whole night for that matter, but ya only die once eh? And, I am a man of adventure.

Gotta pace yer fun eh?

My wife and I went to the Farmer's Market this morning after we had breakfast at a restaurant, then came home and took a nap. After lunch I went to an open-house at the local shooting range; just talked with some people and looked at custom-made rifles and shotguns I can't and never will be able to afford. Came home, went to church (the roof did NOT fall in), made dinner, talked with my brother, paid some bills, and now I'm going to bed.

Full report on the decluttering thread, eh?**bg**

In addition, I scanned the covers of about ten books which will be listed for sale, I *think,* on eBay. Have about 30 more to scan.

Watched a really fun movie on netflix (see movie thread) and am just about to finish making our bed with clean sheets, etc. and go to bed. G'night!

I spent most of the day shivering and tryin to sleep off a fever. Got up about 8:30 p.m. to eat and check a few threads. We were supposed to go to Montreal, stay over with friends and tomorrow attend a 50th wedding anniversary in eastern Ontario. There's a slight chance we'll still make the anniversary, but not too likely. Back to bed now. Brrr! Time for more tylenol.

At my Mom's and so is Annie, and we are basking in each other's company. (Both have done really well with their recovery, btw.) Cleaned up Mom's flowerbed and deadheaded her roses early this morning, then Annie gave me a haircut, then the three of us went down to Milton and toured the Blenko Glass Company (Festival of Glass going on this weekend,) then went for a session of retail therapy at a great old little shoe store in Milton that carries the odd sizes we all wear. Home to Mom's for a good summer supper, a game of Scrabble, then watched a couple of old movies with Lucille Ball in them. Everyone but me now nicely tucked into bed.

A good day.

I've been fiddling this morning - working on "The Pernod Waltz", if you must know - and had a phone conversation with the groom who's wedding barn dance we're playing for on 3rd September.

Now, I'm just about to go out to see my dearest Jill. I haven't seen her close-up since last year as she's had some remedial work done and not been able to see me. So I'm really looking forward to climbing her stairs, snuggling up close to her windshaft and telling visitors all about her.

Jill? Oh - here she is: Jill

This morning has been computer problems, mostly MythTV playing up. Anyway Pip has ordered a HD Home Run which I hope will improve the system, cure one problem and when we have the digital switch over in November, enable HD recordings.

Not sure what's next today. Maybe plant some beetroot out.

I started by waking 45 mins later than I intended (bloody alarm clock, I need a new one with a LOUD ring), so showered & made a sandwich & ate it at the bus stop. Then Bus #1 to the CBD, Bus #2 to inner city Antique & Collectable Market, walking via a different street so I could take photos of a heritage listed electrical Substation, shopped & spent $23 & chatted with friends. substation album

Next back to the CBD & caught a bus to far suburbia (along the motorway so it was a bit quicker) for a friend's 60th Birthday. Yummy food, lots of songs & music, & good company.

Walked paper round in drizzling rain, fried potatoes (my own) for breakfast, started to read Scotland On Sunday, played with new kitten, had Bangers and Mash for dinner. After listening to Goon Show whilst Mudcatting I am off to watch Songs Of Praise from Dunfermline Abbey - in an Agnostic way that is.
Later tonight it's BBC Proms featuring Bolero.
All of this is blessed with having a lovely wife - Ann - and a ton of good fortune.

Oh, and got the HD Homerun I mentioned today. Having the flexibility to have the tuner anywhere on the network rather than tied to (often inside too) a computer is a plus to me and it seems to work well with Mythtv and Linux. No drivers to install or firmware to find, mythtv detects it, 1 minute set up and (providing you are aware of one "gotcha" - I wasn't...) it just works!

Mythtv is able to use one tuner to record more than one simultaneous program if they are on the same mux and as this is a dual tuner, I've had 4 std dvb-t recordings at the same time as well as watching one recording - just using a low powered nVidia ION mini ITX computer.

It remains to be seen how the HD works out when it reaches this area in Nov but so far, I like it.

Not much, really......have done two loads of washing (which is hanging on the clothesline waiting for the rain to start, which will necessitate a mad dash to bring it in again), prepared tonight's dinner - coq au vin - and started it off in the slow cooker, now I am sitting here at the computer. This arvo I have plans to spend some time in my sewing room.

Cheers

Shucks, anyone with a lathe could do that.

(Anyone with loads of practice, patience, skill, and artistic sense of form and material)

That bowl, while it is lovely, isn't as much of a demonstration of a master's hand as several of the other pieces in the series there with it. Check them all out if you didn't happen to before.

All that I'll be "at" for most of today will be driving my main squeeze 60 miles or so to the monthly rehearsal for the big choir group she's in, and sitting around reading-or-whatever most of the afternoon. Some of what I've been at the last couple of weeks has been going a couple of miles to downtown with this for Monday night cruises.

I'd never be doing that with a lathe. I'd like to think maybe one day a Sterling Engine or something like that but Bill's sort of wood turning would always be beyond me.

---

Anyway, today I have drained a pond and taken the lining out ready for it to be filled in. I'm toying with replacing the float valve in the expansion tank for the central heating as it's sticks sometimes but I think I'll put that off until Monday. I'll keep an eye on the test match score (although that looks like it will be over soon). I'm not sure what else.

In the interest of science, I am reviving this thread. The data has at last been tabulated and will soon be published in a prestigious peer-reviewed quarterly but I am able to share this brief synopsis with the Cat. Kennebecs averaged 1.84 kg per plant. The entire 64 square feet yielded 64 pounds. How's that fer spuddin'?

Workin on The Way Forward a guide to social financial justice and the new ethics.

The Wall St. Trials a play in which justice is sought (Nuremberg style) for the best known Wall St. players and criminals.

A sci fi romp about a guy who can surf time because of a special limbic system in his brain that senses time gravity waves and can exist in an altered speed of thought adjustment during events of high wave activity...when the waves of two super massive black hole collisions finally reach Earth with unseen but drastic results.

Changing the soil in my outdoor plants, to put them in their winter home, under nice warm indoor lights in my basement.

It is very pleasing to see outdoor plants thrive and blossom indoors in the winter months. It's almost as pleasing to free them for the outdoors in the Spring:)

A patio stawberry plant even bears nice red strawberries throughout winter,as if to thank me for my efforts to help them through the cold period.
