THanks so much for the kind wishes. Best beloved Wyfe hauled me out to the Ruth Chris steak restaurant for the best filet I have ever had. Dear companions and good vino and impeccable service made it a first-class evening.

I dunno about the whole "old" thing. Looking outward the world looks about as young as it did when I was thirty, and that's how I seem. Maybe I just haven't been learning my lessons properly but I am still a bit rambunctious and prefer laughing over being serious.

Self publishing, not a lot. It can be done very cheaply if you do all the formatting and art yourself and just put a PDF up. The channels for market through Amazon and the Apple bookshelf are getting much easier to access. You can also buy a service from various places that will prepare and launch the book from your copy for a fee. Some folks have made money doing it.

On a more traditional line, you could send out a lot of query letters to appropriate agents and get one who will be your interface to the publishing world. This can also be frustrating and time consuming.

I just had a GREAT birthday. Drove to LA for a huge Chinese dinner with nephews and grandchildren and affection all over.

So now I am officially and chronologically a Septuagenarian. How about THEM apples, huh? Never thought I'd see the day!

Thanks to all who made it possible--by being kind, by not stealing my lunch, by not T-boning my car at 75 mph while drunk, by refraining from setting off suitcase nukes in my vicinity, by not running planes into my house, and failing to poison my water supply.

Thanks, too, tot hose who did not vaporize my part of the planet with high-intensity quasar rays from a fleet of hovering saucer-shaped vessels, and to the bowels of the earth for unleashing NO tsunamis in my general direction. Thanks to all the maintenance workers who did their jobs well enough that my planes could fly, my car keep its wheels on, my power stay on, and my gas-lines stay non-volatile. I am grateful for millions of small favors, every day.
