I used to cook at a place called Li'l Nips.
The owners last name was Nipper. It was really more of a bar with a kitchen than a proper restaurant.

Portland, Maine also had (or has - not sure if they are still around) a Sam & Ella's Deli. The Muddy Rudder isn't the best choice as far as I'm concerned - doesn't make me want to eat there.

what, pray, is a 'restrurant'?

Actually, it's a very peaceful food bar which travels around country areas. Never seen one, Michael? I'm suprised...

"Big Peckers" I think is in Ocean City, Md.... I've seen the tee-shirts, anyway...

I used to frequent "The Ugly Mother" in Virginia Beach, Va... Don't know if it's still there, or not...

Many years ago there was a restaurant in Canterbury called Get Stuffed! A number of locals complained about the name, apparently!

CarolC, Jack the Sailor and I dined once in an oriental restaurant near Lake City, Florida. It was a "must" once we saw the sign, the first line of which was: FU KU

I think the thread name is a bad name for a thread ~~ what, pray, is a 'restrurant'?

Just a typo, I appreciate ~ but jarring. Any chance of this being emended by a clone or mod?

There was a local take-away selling donner kebabs called "Bella Donner".
A catchy name, until you realise that belladonna is one of the most toxic plants in the Western hemisphere.

There used to be a popular wine bar in Brighton in the '70s called "Pip's Wine Bar". When Pip sold it, the new owner changed the name to "Valmonella's".

It didn't last long...

There is a place in Cape Elizabeth Maine that caters to elderly people. I call it "The Rubber Stocking".
Ptomaine Tillie's.

Those trucks that cater to mechanics are called the Roach Coach, or The Maggot Wagon.

Tom Rush, in one of his songs, refers to a place in Montana called "The Squat and Gobble."
Dont know if this is real or just artistic creativity, but it does have a certain cachet!

I know this isn't exactly "on point", but I've said over the years that one of my life's ambitions is to open a restaurant with "topless waitresses" on the signage, and staff it with fully dressed flat-chested women.

My youngest brother wanted to open a place catering to the muzzleloader shooting crowd and call it "The Cock and Balls". If there was objection he'd go for "The Lock 'n' Balls."

I'm guessing the Roadkill Cafe on Route 66 does ok for itself.

Don, that place would probably make a mint.

General store, lunch counter and gas station. The sign out front said "Eat Here and Get Gas."

Okay. . . .

Don Firth

P. S. Here's a suggestion for a combination gas station and restaurant:    The Stomach Pump.
