Filey Folk Festival 2012 returns following its successful revival in 2011. So the bank holiday weekend of May 4th/5th/6th see's a good variety of acoustic styles gathering in 3 of the seaside town's pubs. Over 70 acts will take part in the Belle Vue, Grapes Inn & Station Pub. But another piece of good news aswell, apart from the Station , another pub, THE IMPERIAL will be throwing open its doors for anybody wanting to just turn up to play/sing. There is something reminiscent of the Sun Inn in Beverley about the IMPERIAL too, so come along and give it ago and the host's Mark & Charlotte will make you feel most welcome. And as usual the whole festival is FREE ENTRY to the public !

Probably the best thing would be to keep both threads going - t'government (Tory Bastards) are very keen on choice as long as you choose them or their mates.

Any old how with two threads maybe more people will get interested and decide to support the event and maybe the twain WILL meet!

THE STATION PUB, Church Street, Filey - over 30 pre-booked acts including Monkeys Fist, Richard Grainger, Fiddlynmandoris, Joe Solo, Paula Ryan, Rebekah Findlay, David Broad, Wendy Arrowsmith. This venue also has seperate lounge areas and marquee covered beer garden for singarounds/playarounds allday and night.

GRAPES INN, Queen Street, Filey (2 min walk from the 'Station'), over 30 pre booked acts including Beggars Bridge, Dominic Hook, Throwing Words, Branstown Band, Mike Rogers, Ysabelle Wombwell. Small beer garden for singarounds/playarounds allday and night.

THE BELLE VUE PUB, Belle Vue Street, Filey (5 min walk from the 'Grapes')- over 20 pre booked acts including Three Sheets T Wind, Hase Waits, Blackstone Edge, Chris Martin, Dave Kelly, Lindsey Simpson, Half Deaf Clatch. Downstairs cellar bar area and beer garden for singarounds/playarounds allday and night.

THE IMPERIAL, Hope Street, Filey. This venue strictly for singarounds/playarounds only. In a way its like a smaller version of SUN INN in Beverley - old flagstone floor, old musical instruments stuck to the beams and walls. The landlord and landlady Mark & Charlotte have promised to make the 'folksters' very welcome.

Quick update for Filey Folk Festival May 4th/5th/6th. Please contact Derek Waudby or Mick McGarry about singarounds & tunes,(both well known on the yorkshire folk circuit). These 2 guys are hosting sessions at the Station Pub (Derek) & The Imperial Pub (Mick). Filey Folk Festival started again in 2011 after a 4 year lay off following original organiser Robert Hartley's ill health.

Robert is back again in his compere and Ram Shackle Shanty Man guise. The new organisers are fairly 'new' to the folk festival scene but judging by last years revival, they started pretty well. And that's why it's back. So 4 venues altogether, all FREE entry, well over 80 pre-booked acts, with one venue that's TOTALLY informal for singarounds (IMPERIAL PUB).

Plenty of caravan/campervan/camping/guest houses/b&bs nearby.

I will be running sessions in the station inn all weekend from 1 pm till late come and join us

I was only able to make it on Saturday, but was most impressed.

The dates for Filey Folk Festival 2013 are Friday 3rd/Sat 4th/Sun 5th May. (Bank Holiday Weekend). 4 Pub Venues (ALL FREE ENTRY) including The Station, Grapes Inn, Belle Vue, & Imperial. Imperial is the 'singaround' venue (contact Mick McGarry AKA 'ossonflags') also The Station has lounge areas and marquee covered beer garden for singarounds, contact Derek Waudby AKA 'del boy'.
