(I ain't gonna put a blue-clicky here - if anyone wants to they can Google it. Mind you, Bill Brandt was just as raunchy!)

Yes, pete... My bad... BTW, I have a large Corot print entitled "Une matinee. La danse des nymphes, 1850"...

The Courbet painting of the raft with all those people hanging on is great... Can't remember the name of it...

Did you mean Corot, Bobs? And don't forget Courbet, who some historians regard as the first Modern artist.

Once upon a time I would have said Magritte

another time Rothko

another time Mondrian or Escher or Klimt

and the pre-Raphaelites and the Impressionists and CAVE ART!

Visual art is, for me, very much like music. It is a mood thing.

Louise Bourgeoise. I saw some of her work in a book about female artists around twenty years ago. I haven't seen anything that's impressed me quite as much since.

I was in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam in February and stood for about 30 mins just staring at his "Wheat Field with Crows". The whole place was full of greatness. Next day I went the The Hague to see Varmeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring". Sublime.

Coming up to date, I like video artists such as Ori Gerst (see here) and just about anything by Wolfgang Tillmans. Ranger1 mentioned Turner: one of the all time greats, but we owe it all to Giotto.

Been workin' on it all my life... It's hard...

Saw Dali's "Last Supper" when I was about 11 or 12... It was on loan at the National Gallery... My mom had to pull me away from it... Does that make Dali my favorite artist??? Nah...

I donno???
