I know that BBC personel have recentlt moved to Salford but I didn't think that it wpuld so drastically affect the accuracy of it's reports.

As every folkie knows (from Ewan McColl's song - Manchester Rambler) this event CLICK happened in 1932 not 1912.

The report itself speaks of the happenings '80 years ago' so it would appear thet someone can't count

I can't see what's wrong with the report - apart from not playing Ewan's famous song.

All through the miner's strike the Beeb were bloody inaccurate - they didn't seem to have any knowledge of the geography of Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire, or Derbyshire - place names were very random.

1932 - that is eighty years, isn't it?

Yes but the blurb underneath says, almost 100 years ago. I suppose we must put it down hyperbolic sub editors.

Big Al - the piece was headlined - ' Historic rambler protest marked 100 years on' - a bit misleading really

BBC News and the News website are still based in London. The fact that a headline writer has made a mistake has NOTHING to do with parts of the BBC being relocated to Salford. The report itself accurately says 80.

Talk about a petty thread...

80 used to be nearly 100, it's a combination of cutbacks & devaluation!

A lot of the stuff about reggae on BBC2 last night was nearly 20 years out - crediting to punk what had actually happened with skineds.

I sent an email pointing out the error (I'm sure I wasn't the only one ) and I am pleased to see that it has been corrected.
