Subject: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Bobert Date: 27 May 12 - 09:46 AM First of all, it hard to believe that the Ku Klux Klan is still around but even harder to believe that that these folks called for a public get together in Harmony, NC... The outrage, however, forced them to regroup and they now have decided to move the shin-dig into Virginia... Fact is stranger than fiction... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Rapparee Date: 27 May 12 - 10:46 AM They sent membership applications to a bunch of legislators in Idaho, including the only Black woman. Folks laughed until they fell off their asses. |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Greg F. Date: 27 May 12 - 11:59 AM Whaddaya mean, hard to believe? These Guardians Of The Christian White Race never went away; folks just been pretending they didn't exist. No surprise either that they picked North Carolina- home of good ol'boy Senator "Race Baiter Redneck" Jesse Helms- one of the (still) more vicious white supremecist areas north of the Deep South. Some parts of the country aren't all that far from where they were in 1868. More Here |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: JohnInKansas Date: 27 May 12 - 01:12 PM The KKK is, without question, still active, although participation and organization both have "crumbled" somewhat in recent years. They're not essentially much different than the "Minute Man" militia organizations that were (and are still) a presence in the northern US, or a multitude of various "skinhead" and neo-Nazi clusters scattered across the country. There also are a few "street gangs" that have adopted "crusade mentalities" along similar lines. I'm frankly more concerned about things like the US Senator who at least TWICE introduced a bill to amend the US Constitution to "prohibit the US Supreme Court from hearing any appeal of a lower court decision citing "God's Will" as a basis for findings." (paraphrased slightly) He has stated his belief that the "government should be abolished" and everything should be decided by "the church, according to God's Law." He's a little vague about "which God" and is quite obviously willing to pick whichever one would make him "the Pope." The reason for concern is that he has sufficient support among voters to now be a State Governor, where he has just signed an act prohibiting application of "other religious law" in courts within the state (still unclear about what's "the religious law" he wants, and what's "the other religious law" he wants banned) - he can't say Shariah Law since the Supreme Court already ruled on that. He is "mirrored" in at least two other State Governors, all of whom are enthusiastically supported by "the Christian Taliban" - who just can't accept that they're just more of the same. God's Senator A long and somewhat dated, but still apparently accurate, report on the Gov. S 520 IS one of the "Constitutional Amendment bills." Governor signs latest attempt to inject religious law to regulate which religions are acceptable. (I wish he'd tell us and quit weaseling on the matter, but of course he has to wait to know what will get the most votes "at the right time.") John |

Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 27 May 12 - 03:24 PM Beliefs of the KKK are still around (Bill S520 and the like, disguised as so-called states rights renewal in bills in some state legislatures). The KKK was once popular with business men in Canadian cities. I have a book on those times (pre-WW2), with a reproduced photograph of the crowd assembled in Calgary to listen to KKK officials. These were not cowboy "rednecks" but mostly small business people of standing in the community. (Comparison of the photo with photos in local papers (Albertan and Herald) and in Glenbow Archives permit identification of some of them). Many men who have fought and won success in business are afraid of government regulations which might limit their established activities or change their environment. They fail to see that new methods always displace the old. There is truth in the statement, "Evolve or die." |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Mrrzy Date: 08 Jul 17 - 12:07 AM I was surprised to see this thread when I searched for KKK. The NC KKK is coming to my town tomorrow. I live in interesting times, I tell you. I'm going to attend one of the anti-events, close enough to hear if there is gunfire (they are coming armed, they say, as does at least one group of counterprotesters). If there isn't, I'm going to go see the dying American bigot, even if not in its native habitat. Seriously. A leur age, in this day and age, etc. |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Greg F. Date: 08 Jul 17 - 09:41 AM The NC KKK is coming to my town tomorrow. Will Trump be one of the speakers? |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Mrrzy Date: 08 Jul 17 - 01:12 PM No, but we are an open carry state and both sides say they're coming armed. Oh, isn't America just swell. |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Greg F. Date: 08 Jul 17 - 01:42 PM Can't believe Trump would miss a rally of his supporters. Putin's fault, I guess. Heil Trump! |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Mrrzy Date: 08 Jul 17 - 10:05 PM It was mostly fine - some BLM people misbehaved, the klanasses looked silly, there was a lot of music. |

Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Joe Offer Date: 08 Jul 17 - 11:01 PM There was an anti-Muslim demonstration scheduled in our Northern California community last month, so we organized a counter-demonstrations. We outnumbered the anti-Muslims 10 to 1. We felt kinda silly paying attention to their demonstration, which was a fizzle. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: NC Exports KKK to Virginia... From: Mrrzy Date: 09 Jul 17 - 08:07 AM There are elements of that here too -we were about a thousand, they were less than 50. And they sure looked silly - I guess it was scary for the ignorant downtrodden in the 50's, but man, can't imagine running from them now. |
