My apologies for not posting this sooner. I was going through a rough patch and just didn't see any email for awhile. This is from Chris from around the 20th:

This is amazing. Can't thank you and all the Mudcatters enough. Been busy as hell, and will get on there to send thanks personally. I'm skilled enough to get him set up, and I work at a school, so I'm going to pick the brains in the Special Ed and Tech department for ideas on how to make this friendly.

There is an item that I really want to get for my folks as both of them are having a harder time with this. Dad is getting to the point where he almost can't answer and sometimes can't hold the phone. If there's anyone out there with a bead on a voice activated conference/speaker phone, please let me know. They are not cheap so I don't want to take up a collection. Just hoping someone might know where to get them at a discount or know where there might be a spare.

I just spoke with Art. He has the notebook,Dan, and all of the stuff you sent, too, BK. Thrilled, amazed and he says people keep sending him stuff. He sounded so pleased.

Dan, Chris has your contact info and may call. Apparently something isn't compatible with what's available, but he is going to remedy that. Art was vague because he doesn't understand it, but he is so grateful and really excited about getting back on. He was being taken for a shower when I called.

It should be there on Saturday, it went out today ... it is a dandy and I loaded it up ... Now if folks want to send him CD's he will have lots to listen to ...

I forgot to include the external mouse but the touch pad is perfect. If it is an issue someone just let me know and I will send it .. I also have a spare battery but the one in there runs for over 2 hrs off plug so it is in good shape. Again just let me know and I will ship that also if he wants.

It is Linux but very very simple to use, easier than windows, there is a menu on the left side just click internet, enter the one time security key for the wireless and bam he is on .. everything is configured.

We need a webcam as the company that gave it to me doesn't allow them on their notebooks so if anyone got an external webcam let me know or I will just buy him one next week

Mudcatters are the most beautiful people with such big hearts. Thank you Dan and BK...what a wonderful thing you have both done. It will be wonderful to have Art here, but I think he will get the most out of it on youtube and listening to you all. I know they used to enjoy netflix, too.

Just sent via Amazon a pair of Sennheiser HD201 Lightweight Over-Ear Binaural Headphones. Also included a pair of Panasonic RPHJE120S In-Ear Headphones (earbuds) 'cause they might be easier to use while in bed. Also included a Y-Splitter with Volume Control so's Carol can listen in too. Should arrive by Monday.

Very very simple to use, I just upgraded to version 12 of ubuntu linux. The machine has a built in Vpro Intel Centrino processor. Lots of memory and hard drive space. It flies, now we have to get him some headphones so he can listen to music and we need a webcam. If someone has them please let me know before I go buy him some.

touch pad on the notebook but I will send a mouse along because I know he is more use to a mouse. Sharp sharp screen. love it .. perfect .. we need to get him back with us asap. No fun being sick without your friends around

This is a very very good notebook, I had to load linux on it because I have no spare copies of windows, however, it is even easier to use then windows and I will supply full instructions so no stress. Just click connect and rock on ..also you have no need to worry about virus or spyware due to the op system. Now can someone send Art some decent headphones so he can listen to music. I don't have a spare set ... and if you got a spare webcam please send that also ...
