We never made it down to the beach, as I had Bandit with us, but we did check out the trails by the beaver bog. I'll let Micca share our findings there. |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Micca Date: 19 Aug 12 - 03:28 PM Breakfast at Tim Horton's and then down to Spring Point to view the ospreys up close and personal. Micca got lots of pictures of mama guarding her nest but the bablies were off doing what teenagers evreywhere do - hanging out. We spent a couple of hours at the waterfront watching sailing ships go by, witnessed a tug boat race and a raft of ducks, a cormorand along with many dogs chasing balls. Nice relaxing time. Now home waiting for the sunburn to start hurting. |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Micca Date: 19 Aug 12 - 10:57 AM Well, after a few, very full days in Keene NH in the quietest place in the world!!I set off, with Hunt ,for Concord NH (pronounced Concurd, not Con Chord) to meet Linn and cut about 3 hours off my projected Journey time!! (Many thanks Linn) Linn arived to pick me up so soon after I was dropped off I had just time to get a coffee! after a nice few hours at Their place in Nottingham ( I wish there was an election sign for a Sherriff there , Think How cool it would be to have a sign saying "Joe Bloggs for Sherriff of Nottingham") We got to The Press Room, where we had a really good afternoon of singing and music with a lot of friends, ( I even remembered names!!!) and some Outstanding singing as well, I wouldn't want to single any person out for special praise as all were excellent but the girls of "London Julie" were amazing!! So Thank you Justine, Ramona and Carol!! oh and Sue!!!! It was great to meet you all again!. I am now back in Maine and getting Laundry done and stuff ready to travel on Home on Wednesday, after nearly 5 weeks of amazing places and wonderful friends who have ,as always, been THE BEST , and made me feel welcome and cared for, and looked after me so well, So I say a Big thank you to all my Hosts and Hostesses who have made this such a completely memorable trip, Claire, Kalia, Mary, Allison&Hunt and Maggie, Linn, Mary again and all the people who have taken time to show me things and on visits, I THANK YOU all most sincerely! |
Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Bat Goddess Date: 19 Aug 12 - 07:53 AM Picked Micca up in Concord just moments after he was deposited there and I showed him it was, indeed, possible to go from Concord to Nottingham (and hence to Portsmouth) without detouring to North Conway. Micca added to his fan club at the Press Room sea music singaround and then was safely handed over to Sinsull and Jacqui for transport back to Maine. Really glad he and I and Tom were able to spend some good conversational time together before the Press Room where conversation is problematic at best. Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Bat Goddess Date: 18 Aug 12 - 06:59 AM Gave myself a dope slap upside the head yesterday afternoon for not thinking of it sooner and gave Animaterra a holler last night when we got home from the Press Room session. I'm heading out of here in a couple hours to pick up Micca in Concord, saving him a bus trip to Boston and then another bus trip back to Portsmouth -- the only public transportation way to get from west to east in southern New Hampshire. (The state makes sure everything funnels tourists IN, to hell with travel across the state -- Maine is pretty much the same.) It'll be great to be able to visit at home (and luncheon BLTs with fresh native tomatoes!) for awhile before the Press Room sea music sing this afternoon. Conversation is almost impossible at The Press Room... Linn |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 17 Aug 12 - 07:42 AM Well, the dear man has been here for two days, and sadly, he came at our busiest week of the summer! So, it's a peaceful rest-stop instead of an exciting adventure. No visits to wineries, no shanty sings, just bird-watching on the porch and errand runs to Keene (he said something about " fat quarters"-I don't think it was a rude allusion to my weight...!). Tonight he gets to be the only adult at a children's concert we are giving, then tomorrow we must bid him farewell, as he hies him hence to more adventures! |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Micca Date: 15 Aug 12 - 08:43 AM Micca, is packing his little trunk ready for departure for a few days in New Hampshire, and looking forward to see a bunch of frends!! I am off to Heene NH this morning and Allison and Hunts (and Maggie) peace and (relative) quiet in the woods, Maybe just a little Music? and then heading for the Press Room Saturday for the Shanty sing!!so very satisfactory!! I will update with pics when I can. BTW Roger, if you think grebes are good at diving and coming up where you dont expect, Loons are rthe absolute masters of this, the stay down for minutes at a time and reappear almost the way cats do, possibly why the are called Great Northern Divers? |
Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 14 Aug 12 - 12:48 PM Great pics, Micca. My bird photos are usually a vibrating twig! At least water birds usually cooperate (though grebe never come up where you are expecting when they dive). RtS (also a Canon EOS user) |
Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: AllisonA(Animaterra) Date: 13 Aug 12 - 09:35 PM Hey, Micca-me-love, just dashing by to say we can't wait to see you Wednesday AND Hunt has offered to drive you back to the bus station on Saturday- I didn't even have to ask him! So now there remains just one minor dilemma to sort out: The local church is having its annual Old Home Week Ham and Bean supper. Would you like that, or shall Hunt show off his newly acquired gourmet cooking skills (believe me, the man can cook!). Hmmm, ham n' beans or gourmet dinner? Decisions, decisions! Meanwhile, if you are up early enough in the mornings, you will hear OUR local loon demonstrating how they got that name (hint: it isn't from the mystical call heard across the foggy morning pond. It's the territorial yodel done in midair). Also, if you're very good we'll let you come to the kid's "Songs of Woody Guthrie' concert we are doing on Friday! You can demonstrate "Bling, blang, hammer with my hammer". ...I'll just leave that there and slip away for now... |

Subject: RE: BS: Son of Where's Micca??! From: SINSULL Date: 10 Aug 12 - 09:03 AM Ladies! Behave! Micca got to meet the local pair of wild turkeys. Last year a lonely tom wandered the neighborhood crying pathetically. Now he's back with a companion. Freddie put on a show for Micca. He stalked one of the turkeys and would have caught it if she hadn't ruffled her feathers and scared the crap out of him. They left behind a feather. Nice. SINS |
