Subject: RE: mobile mikes From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 20 Jul 12 - 05:32 AM Thanks so far. Treewind - just the sort of detail I need. Any more still welcome. we used to have a sound man - came with us to gigs and supplied everything. He had worked in the Dockyard - and 40 years later the dreaded aspestosis got him. We inherited his basic stuff but not his mobile mikes. I shall start looking on the web for your suggestions. FloraG |
Subject: RE: mobile mikes From: treewind Date: 19 Jul 12 - 06:24 PM Sennheiser EW100 G2. UHF, lots of channels to choose from (including the few that will continue to be legal unlicensed in the UK in the future) never let us down, sounds good - but a bit expensive. UHF mics are generally better and more interference-proof, if only because they are less common so you are less likely to have another in the vicinity. |

Subject: RE: mobile mikes From: s&r Date: 19 Jul 12 - 10:44 AM UHF. Shure, not sure of model. Reliable and it works. VHF gave us interference problems in both directions. If you see a cheapie and it looks too good to be true, it probably is. Stu |

Subject: RE: mobile mikes From: Will Fly Date: 19 Jul 12 - 06:29 AM Flora - plenty of makes of radio mic/headset out there at all prices. From personal experience can I recommend that you spend as much as you can reasonably afford to get the best one you can. Cheap ones will have a smaller range of frequencies to choose from. "Hallo Golf Echo Papa - fare for you at 28 Lansdown Crescent" is not a dance step... Cheap ones will not have a decent range. Cheap ones tend to pack up for no accountable reason and will have to be replaced. You can be lucky - I wasn't! |
Subject: RE: mobile mikes From: GUEST,matt milton Date: 19 Jul 12 - 05:43 AM Maplins do one, made by the brand Yoga. It's about 20 quid I think. It'd do for a mediumish room, but wouldn't do for a church hall or anything though. |
Subject: mobile mikes From: GUEST,FloraG Date: 19 Jul 12 - 05:22 AM Any recomendations for modest cost mobile head mikes, with an on off switch for use with barn dance calling? Thanks FloraG. |
