Part of the fun of enjoying NFL football for me is trash talking and badmouthing other people's favorite teams and pointing out the flaws in their defenses.
I have noticed that some people here treat football like a dog show and believe that they need to be too circumspect when it comes to discussion of games and in particular certin Quarterbacks. It seems like if somebody knows them personally you can't even point out that they were disinclined by their own team for conduct that should have them in jail for a long time.
I respect everyone's opinion here but I think that the trash talking is a fun part of the football culture.
If you choose to say that my NINERS suck or that you think Alex Smith is a moron I'm not gonna get all weepy and be offended nor will I post a big tirade about how you should be more respectful.
I know that some of you have extremely thin skins and you wouldn't enjoy this sort of thread and that's fine. You can frequent the other one that treat each match like a curling game.
I in turn will not post what I think about your team on that one.
So what do you say?

Last year I was developing a mild interest in football, but it died with the scandal over the New Orleans Saints coach who urged the players to really slam a guy who had recently had a concussion. According to the articles in the sports pages, such behavior is common.

Are you still pissed about what I said about the rapist? Even his team suspended him for that. Just because he wasn't proven guilty by the US government doesn't make him an alter boy even if one of the catters once met him or got an autograph.or something like that and doesn't want to believe that he is sick.(br)

Yeah, that's the difference between the college refs and the pros... The college refs ain't up to speed... The NFL rule book is over 100 pages long, too, so they ain't up to speed on the rules... If you've seen some of the low-light of the pre-season you'll plainly see that these guys (one gal) are clearly not up to speed...

With those circumstances and nothing more than "He said, she said." I could not with any degree of integrity call him a rapist. Your mileage may vary.

Sandusky was convicted and his conduct was witnessed by a third party. His conduct was also unambiguously statutory rape.

On the other had, you have a girl, a legal adult, old enough to consent putting herself in extremely compromising circumstances.

You are hardly comparing apples to apples.

Ben was punished by the league for misconduct. Rightfully so. It is clear to me to that there was NO chance of him being convicted in a fair trial. He has since married and is behaving himself.

I respectfully suggest that you find something else to piss and moan about.

I think the fundamentals of the team he is on is probably better than the Colts. He is moving to a much weaker division. IF he stays healthy, I think he will look very very good.

gilly, I think most, if not all, teams are intentionally trying to knock opponents out of games. Except for how it makes the league look, I think the "bounties" don't make one millimeter of difference. In fact I think Vilma would have played every bit as aggressively without the bounties. What are the punishing him for? Being in a room when audio was being recorded? NFL ownership are being hypocrites as usual.

Really good question. The Bears are better than last year. The Pack have yet to show that they are as good. In their last two games that have counted, (Giants, 49ers ) they have shown to be vulnerable to a decent defense.

I watched Mario Williams all day and he didn't seem to want to be bothered to break a sweat. He didn't seem to have any urgency at all. He barely ran, and a 70 year old lady could have blocked him.
