Hiya,

The Ruskin Arms was your local?? Lucky you – Maiden were brilliant when I saw them. I wish they'd done a new album & put 'Coming Home' on that.

No.

I have only skimmed the thread, but think my own thoughts and observations are similar to those of a number of other posters.

Nothing and no one "makes" me or anyone else feel, think or behave in any particular manner. The notion of "makes" implies both no choice and no responsibility, and also implies no personal power or efficacy.

It's the uncertain music that drives you crazy...

Becca, the total absence of loud rock makes me happy.

A friend gave me a cd of Michael Black and it's one of the kinds of music I really like. Celtic jigs always make my feet move.

Thanks for clarification.

I thought it likely that is what you meant, but did not want to assume.

In our ever shrinking world, I think it helpful to learn to be as clear as one can be in expressing one's opinions and ideas. Might not help "safe the world" but certainly can't hurt.

Wasn't there a recent survey about driving habits being affected by music styles?

I seem to remember that the most dangerous music to listen to was "crooners" as, presumably that lulled the driver into a non attentive state.

My personal hate and ire raiser has always been "Sugar sugar" by the Archies.

There are many types of music which are quite annoying, but I think the absolute last word in annoying music would have to be the loudest, most aggressive forms of Rap...assuming it could even be called "music". Does it make people aggressive? Well, I think it attracts people who already are aggressive and encourages them to express their aggressiveness in various ways.

Interesting twist at this point in Mudcat time...a music thread dropping to the "lower region " so it is not lost with the refreshed GUEST999 Lyric Requests.

Documental research (I am familar with a dropped tbird beat) was strong regarding weight training in the mid 1970s.

For a recent article you might branch from " binaural beats."

Yes...

If anyone ever shows up at my house and sets up a PA system and blares Bobby Goldsboro's "Honey" at me, I will shoot them...

Claire M - I started going down there in May '82 (aged 14! :o), 6 months after they played their thinly-diguised farewell gig under the name of "Genghis Khan". I've never actually seen them live!

"I drive at 56-58 mph, tucked up the arse of a juggernaut for the sake of music." - I actually meant to say "for the sake of fuel consumption".

Hawk - I still have to disagree. Yes I hate Rap too, generally referring to it as "Crap". But it's not far to label the fans of it as you do. That's exactly what happened to me & my generation of headbangers. We were "perceived" to be... What we actually were? I suspect that, like us, many, if not most, of the Rap fans take their aggression out IN the music and are less aggressive BECAUSE of it.

Hiya,

Raedwulf – a friend of mine's seen Maiden 6 times. Have you seen Flight 666??

I am generally able to avoid music that annoys me, except when driving. For 30 years there's someone stopped at the same traffic light as me with some God awful racket emanating from his car radio. I wish that guy would quit following me around.

What you need to do is blast Beethoven's Fifth back at him at an overwhelming volume. People who drive "boom cars" simply can't stand classical music.
