Subject: BS: Catspaw in hospital From: katlaughing Date: 04 Oct 12 - 10:39 PM Folks, Wayne just called. He and his wife, Connie, are best friends with Pat & Karen. He said Spaw has been in hospital for a few days. They aren't sure of what all may be going on, but he has had two transfusions and is kind of out of it due to painkillers, plus there have been issues with breathing. I will try to reach him and/or Karen, tomorrow and post an update as I find out more. Please keep him in your thoughts and thanks. kat |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - more info From: katlaughing Date: 05 Oct 12 - 01:33 PM Well done, CH! This will be brief as my right hand is out of commission. I spoke to Spaw this morning. He sounded pretty good at first, but soon sounded very tired out. His cell phone and mine do not agree with one another; I have a difficult time catching all that he says, but after talking to him and Connie, here is what I know: Things have been going wonky for the past month or so. His INR is up this week and his blood pressure was low yesterday. They are working at stabilizing him before they do a colonoscopy and/or upper GI to see if they can figure out why he needed transfusions. I will post more as I hear from Connie and/or Karen. Just my opinion, but this is one time I think I'd soft-peddle the scatological stuff. I know it's one way we all deal with our concerns, but I think I can say on behalf of Pat that it kind of wears thin, sometimes. I mean no offence to anyone. As I said, just my opinion. Thanks for all your good thoughts and energies and hugs. I know they are greatly appreciated by Pat, Karen, and the boys. luvyakat |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital From: Janie Date: 05 Oct 12 - 08:45 PM Pat, a beautiful and powerful harmonious chant written by one of the women in a wonderful local group you never heard of (Pomegranate Rose - disbanded a long time ago) is running through my head tonight as I think of you as well as of your family. If you have ever been to an Episcopal service, hear something like the quiet harmony that conveys that sense of holiness within each of us when the congregation chants the psalm. We have all that we need. Full blessed children of space. Light shines full on our faces, bringing love, illumination, peace. |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-10-12 From: Jeri Date: 10 Oct 12 - 07:36 PM I figured he's find a way to get out today so he could watch DD, but they probably have TVs in "the joint". I figure he needs the attention. (No, not really.) I think he's had so much work done, that if he gets a hangnail, it's a serious matter. Of course, I don't think they have home colonoscopy kits yet. I'm glad ol' uncle Pat's doing better. |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-10-12 From: Bee-dubya-ell Date: 10 Oct 12 - 09:47 PM Glad to hear Spaw's on the mend, mainly because if he were to kick the bucket there'd be so much boo-hooin', sub-zubbin', and catterwallin' around here it'd make a typical day at The Wailing Wall look like a Justin Bieber concert. In fact, I think Spaw should be prohibited from croaking until all the other regulars around here have cashed in their chips on account of none of us want to have to put up with the huge outpouring of sniffly shit that would be associated with his takin' an early dirt nap. So, get well and stay there, fucker! |
Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-10-12 From: Stilly River Sage Date: 10 Oct 12 - 09:51 PM I just read up about "duck dynasty." I think I'd have to pass - Monroe and West Monroe, LA were two of the most depressing towns that I had the poor fortune to work in back in 1980. But maybe if you didn't have to live there maybe you can laugh about it! SRS |
Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-10-12 From: GUEST,olddude Date: 10 Oct 12 - 10:35 PM forget the location, Duck Dynasty is the funnies show on TV. Spaw and I bust a gut at the crap those guys get into. Sad thing is they are real people. LMAO especially when they creeped into the golf course at night to catch frogs ... |
Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-10-12 From: Rapparee Date: 10 Oct 12 - 10:45 PM Crept. Not "creeped." Please use the correct terminology. It's also "hanged" for someone who dangled from a rope, not "hung" (although a he may have been hung as well as hanged). |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-Oct-12 From: Little Hawk Date: 12 Oct 12 - 05:49 PM Yeah. That's why I've always much preferred relatively small dogs. Not tiny dogs. Just fairly small dogs. They had on online test to determine which kind of dog would suit one best. I took the test and guess what came up? Dachshund! ;-) I'm also fond of Jack Russels, providing they're not the hysterical kind. |
Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-Oct-12 From: Ebbie Date: 12 Oct 12 - 10:05 PM I know what you mean about Great Danes. The last few months I've been 'pee-breaking' one and she is one monster. Sweet but huge. When she puts her front paws on my shoulders I have to brace myself. My little Chinese Crested dog won't even attempt to play with her, much as she begs him to. |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-Oct-12 From: Nigel Paterson Date: 14 Oct 12 - 07:06 AM So pleased to read all the good & positive news about Spaw. I've been down in darkest Devon these past few days with some of my 60s Music buddies, completely out of touch with the big, wild world. Disappointing that his Docs. haven't fully identified the 'problem', but wonderful nonetheless that he could be home soon. The human body does stuff like this from time to time...propels us into a crisis; the Doctors are left scratching their heads; we recover & it never happens again. I sincerely hope that this is the case for Spaw. Very good news to come home to, With Love, Nigel & Ann (Still in NC!) xxxxxxxxx |
Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital - Good news - 10-Oct-12 From: catspaw49 Date: 16 Oct 12 - 09:13 AM Nothing else to say but once again thanks to all. I'm home and that's about all I know at this point. Too many issues to be sure what happened or will happen. No apparent bleeding but low platelets and after 4 pints things look better. Scopes are too risky at this point and I really don't show any signs of intestinal bleeds. Did liver and spleen scans and other tests yet still no sure reason. Could be valve related or perhaps we'll do a bone marrow check. Other options out there but too early to say what. We'll see what pans out on the hemoglobin level and go from there. While that isn't definitive it is at least something and we know some things that aren't the problem. Hold good thoughts and wwe'll see what happens. I'd write more but I'm still a bit tired out.....LOL.......Thanks again for all the wishes, prayers, and good thoughts. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital -Home Again - 16-Oct-12 From: Rapparee Date: 16 Oct 12 - 08:57 PM Hey, our local team, the Idaho State University Bengals, are 1 and 5. Nebraska beat them 73 to 7, Portland State whumped 'em 77 to 10 -- not every school can have their football team lose by more than 65 points twice in a season. Of course, last year the women's basketball team went to the NCCA finals...and the women's teams are doing extremely well this year. So I ask: Why in the world does Idaho State University have any men's sports at all? |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital -Home Again - 16-Oct-12 From: catspaw49 Date: 30 Nov 12 - 12:21 PM I'd like to stay healthy Bugsy but I keep opening new vistas on the health front. Regarding this thread and the anemia/breathing problem.................I had a bone marrow biopsy two weeks ago to see if there was a reason there for this anemia which is causing the breathing problem. As it turns out, there is! I have some lazy-ass bone marrow which ain't keeping up with the needed supply. Mostly all the things we associate with Leukemia. At this point it ain't. The condition is called Myeloplastic Dysplasia Syndrome. The good news is that it is a pre-cancerous diagnosis and may or may not become Leukemia at some point in the future. The lesser news is that if it does it is a type that does not respond well to most of the known treatments. We are starting weekly injections to stimulate the marrow which obviously needs a swift kick in the ass. We'll see how that goes first and move on from there. My hemoglobin and platelets are better than they were but still very low. I'm breathing better and doing better overall but I look forward to hopefully boost my red blood cell output with the shots. It will probably take awhile to see/feel the effect of those. Hopefully there will be some!!! Biggest problem right now is the trip to Columbus (100 mile round trip) which will be weekly. My back has been bothering me since that 2 month stint in the hospital a couple of years back following the botched appendectomy. The trip gets uncomfortable for me plus it is another 100 miles on the car and the gas. So I need to get some more info then talk to the insurance folks about a closer location for the shots or home health care to do them. Spaw |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital -Home Again - 16-Oct-12 From: John MacKenzie Date: 30 Nov 12 - 12:52 PM You do like to try on a new ailment for size, every so often Spaw. I think you do it just to keep us on our toes. Gues ya need to eat things rich in iron fer yer red blood cells, but an old hand at the hospital business like you, will know all about that. Eat well, be well, and cut down on the foreplay, AND what comes after that, too. (No I can't remember either!) Be well friend. |

Subject: RE: Catspaw/Spaw in hospital -Home Again - 16-Oct-12 From: Will Fly Date: 30 Nov 12 - 03:15 PM Jesus - is this thread still crawling along? For heaven's sakes, Spaw, get your act together, will you? I can't keep seeing this thread creeping up to the top of the BS section and thinking, Oh no - what now?" It's more than flesh and blood can stand - I think Rap should keep his promise of a swift kick in the nuts and sort you out once for and all. I've recently threatened Dan with a Jello attack (in a private email), so don't think I can't threaten you... You have been warned. |
