I did notice in the news that the Billy Graham Organization took Mormonism off of their list of cults. I suppose so that Christians can vote for Mr. Romney with a clean conscience. And they are one of the most powerful voting blocs in the nation.

Mitt, like so many other 1%'ers feel that he is entitled to his wealth and has an authoritarian vision for the country, very Feudal, feeling that because someone is rich, they have the right to decide for others what is right. This is an Ayn Randian vision of the world and has been the modus operandi for many millionaires and billionaires that subscribe to Social Darwinism, (not something Darwin would have accepted). Mitt's contempt for the poor and a disingenuous attitude masking a fear and distaste for them will set this country back a hundred years or more. Social programs that actually help people like "Obamacare" or single-payer will be destroyed. Education will be privatized so that only the wealthy can receive it. Mitt's ties to Wall Street and crooked hedge fund managers will become more obvious and as he flaunts his wealth, he will create such a negative response as we haven't seen since Coolidge, Hoover and McKinley if not more of a one. The US will be engaged in three or more wars with Mitt's iron hand that acts in place of his humanity or brain.

Be careful what you wish for, Henry. Unless you are wealthy, it will affect you too.

Amos,as a European, I am frightened, very frightened that Mitt Romney is even being taken seriously as a candidate. I agree with every word Frank Hamilton wrote above. It is quite terrifying that a country, which is supposedly the world's most powerful "democracy", could give any credence to candidates like Ronald Reagan or George Bush Junior. After eight years of the horrible clique, for which Dubya was the errand boy, it is a little too optimistic (imo) to say: "It couldn't happen here". I think (indeed pray) that Obama will make it. I am just appalled that Romney is able to lodge a credible challenge.

Question about voting and this election. Looks like hundreds of thousands of people are going to be DPed. How will their votes be counted and by what mechanism? Is there provision (in the Constitution or law) to deal with this type of situation, and can the final tabulation be held off for a week or two?

No matter where in Europe you go you will find more intellectual life than in most of the US these day, sadly. European kids may be gaining weight due to overconsumption of TV and McDonalds hamburgers but most adults still think for themselves. Polls conducted here show that, asked to choose between Obama and Romney, about 75% go for Obama. No contest. I decamped for Europe a couple of years after Nixon's election and every time I think about returning to the US, another Republican is "elected" president, and I am happy to stay where I am.
