I am fine only mention it cause I tend to drink too much coffee and pop and not enough water. Just a little warning to my guy friends. Drink water everyday. I don't get it often but when I do I know I am alive .. cause I wanna die ... :-) |

I know how you are feeling because I am currently going down the same road as you. I had a prostate surgical operation about 20 years ago. The prostate was benign. They told me then that the thing would grow again slowly - about 2% pa. Last week I had some blood tests for other reasons and my doc called me in and told me that my PSA count was high. The doc gave me "the golden finger" and said he thought I should see a urologist " just to be on the safe side. I was sent that week ( by the NHS !!!) to see a urologist and I was examined and they confirmed the gland was swollen again. I am going on Wednesday next week to have a biopsy to confirm that it is again benign. The urologist a young woman, gave me the full works !! She told me that at my age (77) most men have prostate cancer of some degree. They will give me options on finding the result of the biopsy. So it's crossed fingers time again. Regards Mike |

He got himself hired in a saloon just to pull the corks outa wine bottle. For a quarter he'd let you watch. Then Prohibition hit and he was out of a job for nearly a week and then the speaks opened and he made more money than ever before. Poor guy -- when Prohibition ended he started (legal) work at the Griesedieck Brewery, thinking the name was a tribute to hie unique skill, and was demonstrating such one day on the bung of a keg of not-quite-ready beer. The bung blew out and blew him into a huge tub of mash. He crawled out and went to the bathroom six times before he drowned == his co-workers kept trying to rescue him but he managed to avoid it. The brewery workers wanted to dump the vat into the Mississippi River but management said there was too much money tied up to do that, so they just hauled him out and bottled the beer. Folks said that batch had a lot of body to it, but Griesedieck beer isn't made any more. |

Got a shot in it last week, went to the doctor again this week; he ordered an MRI because he can't see through my skin (and he calls himself a doctor!). I went to the doc first because I noticed I was walking with my right foot nearly 90 degrees to my left -- and I'm using a Leki walking stick as a cane. I kinda sorta suspect that I may have torn the meniscus again (I did it to that knee before, in 2001) somehow. Anyway, I'm flying East on Monday come hell or high water. To Chicago. It's time to put down the Chonga menace once and for all. |

I promised that I would reply when I had had my biopsies on my swollen prostate. Well I had a scan and the biopsies were taken last Wednesday and afterwards the consultant said he took "several pieces." He said that he couldn't say what the procedure would produce and I will have to wait for a few days for the test results to get back. I have to ring the hospital if I haven't heard by the week-end. Only today they have called me in to go to have the cataract removed from my left eye next week - Friday. You may remember that on another thread I told about going for the op and my blood pressure rocketed so high that they wouldn't do it. Since then I have suffered from this raising of the pressure each time I go to the doctors or hospital. They call it White Coat Syndrome.They didn't need to check the pressure to perform the biopsy so I don't know if it was high or not. The eye surgeon has prescribed some kind of relaxant to take prior to the operation so I have all my digits crossed.....Gnu !!!! Cheers Mike |

Seems that I have managed to overcome the "white coat syndrome". The eye is healing great and my sight in the operated-on eye is improving as the eye heals. The impact is already fantastic and makes one helluva difference. Long sight is now great but will still require reading glasses. Got to wait a while until the eye settles down though. Still not heard about the prostate biopsies but that is because we wanted to get the cataract op out of the way before we booked an appointment. Good news is that they haven't contacted me so it doesn't seem as if there is anything too sinister or they would have rung me. Cheers MikeL2 |

MikeL2... pomegranate juice for prostate enlargement (my GP; he also said apple juice is okay but not near as good). It WORKS... just ask little gnu! He is relieved. >;-) And, it decelerates cancer growth. Found another one by wonderful accident today at the gocery store. Guy in front of me at the cash was buying pumpkin seeds and I asked the usual questions. His answer was "prostate" and don't roast them. Googled that and found the seeds MAY help but usual dosing of pumpkin seed oil is a "fer sure as much as can be" in the cancer aspect... trying to find studies about dosage next. If you find any, lemmie know eh? Oh, yeah, there is a "new" surgery for prostate cancer that is essentially non-invasive as it is done with light or laser or? Haven't had time to research it. I am being pro-active on researching info about my prostate as I just ain't gonna sit around with my thumb up my ass on it. >;-) again. Good luck! |
