Christmas is the one time of the year I indulge myself with a nice bottle of tawny port and a hunk of fine Stilton cheese. I am also usually blessed with a gift of single malt which I am not averse to indulging in.

I will, as usual, have a bottle of Sammiclaus.

For those who have not tried Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, please do.

I comes from that famous beer-making drinking place, Chico, California.

That said, we should also consider mulled wine, especially the Scandinavian kind with a shot of akavit in it as well as spices and orange rind.

A Whisky Mac is one of the few drinks I will make for myself when I'm on my own, but mulled wine requires company. It's best made in large quantities.

Mmmmmmm.

Good question.

I enjoy a drink called a Whisky Mac, which consists of equal parts decent blended Scotch and Stone's Ginger Wine. (Don't under any circumstances attempt the ginger wine on its own.) Serve it on the rocks in a short tumbler. It's strong, mind; no driving after even one!

A good scotch as well.

What's your favourite Christmas drink, avec alcohol or not.

So far, this year, mine has been Egg Nog with Captain Morgan's Black Spiced Rum (this rum product was released last spring).

Last year, my favourite was a very hot and spicy Bloody Ceasar, with Tequila.
