Subject: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: MarkS Date: 02 Apr 13 - 06:49 PM Change of life today which will resonate with those of us who are car buffs here. Sold my '68 GTO after about 20 years of ownership. Came the time when I could not keep up with the upkeep and it was breaking my heart to watch it rust. Did not get quite all I wanted but the guy said he would give it a good home. That convinced me to take the offer. Time marches on Mark |

Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Pete Jennings Date: 03 Apr 13 - 10:10 AM A Pontiac GTO? Pity it wasn't a '62-'64 Ferrari GTO! (The difference is about $5m...). Still, car buffs will understand. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Joe Offer Date: 09 Apr 13 - 02:32 AM I learned to drive in a 1964 Tempest station wagon. Not quite as "hot" as the GTO, but still a beautiful car. -Joe- |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Rapparee Date: 09 Apr 13 - 08:42 AM I learned to drive in a 1931 Nash, back when it was brand new. Sure wish it was still around. Or was it a Ford Model A? Dang, but my mind's playin' tricks agin. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Bobert Date: 09 Apr 13 - 09:05 AM You should have put it in Hemmings Motor News if you wanted top dollar... "Goats" with matching numbers bring good money... No matter... I hope you got visitation rights... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Becca72 Date: 09 Apr 13 - 09:25 AM I learned to drive in Kendall's 1979(?) Dodge Diplomat (read: land yacht). Because of that, I can parallel park anything. |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: open mike Date: 10 Apr 13 - 04:22 AM Land yacht is actually a model of Airstream motor home..I have a 36' long one...i call it Moby the Beached Whale... I hope your "Goat" finds a good home and you will see it driving around and in good shape! |
Subject: RE: BS: Goodbye to an old friend From: Gurney Date: 11 Apr 13 - 12:22 AM My first car was an AC tourer, 1938 model, a candidate for the most beautiful vehicle ever made. I sold it long ago for the same reason as Mike, and I wish that I still had it. You can't use a hobby car as a first vehicle, though. Unless you have lots of them, and lots of cash too. |
