Well, now the blessed Margaret has gone, whom shall the left hate now?
Tony Blair would seem to be the obvious nunber one candidate, but wait; he's one of theirs.(Allegedly)
Maggie was so useful, she was a nmeans of establishing ones working class credentials. You could drive a Porsche, earn 50K pa, but still claim to be working class, as long as you said, you hated Maggie and all her works.
As Cameron is so bland, and one can't despise a fellow Socialist, then all you have left is Nick Clegg ;)
The position is now open for nominations.

So war under false pretences, or the betrayal of students, by renaging on a manifesto promise, isn't enough then, Geoff?

Nick Clegg is a man of straw, he couldn't be a bogey man if he studied for it for 20 years at university.

He'll be looking for a new job after the next general election anyway.

and he's a mystery to medical science, how he remains upright, without actually having a backbone.

Oh, the arrogant posh boys who know not the price of milk are hateful too. Bear in mind that their assault on the welfare state goes beyond anything that even Thatcher did.

If Nick Clegg is a man of straw, who is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Blackburn?

I suspect we will have to wait until the elections in June, to see who replaces Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad?

If you sing the Monty Python Lumberjack song, but replace, "I'm a lumberjack", with the name Ahmedinajad. The end result is quite pleasing.

I would judge that there is absolutely no one, left, right or centre, who would see Tony Blair as a "man of the left".

It's not a matter of people celebrating her death. Her death an occasion to express what people feel about her life. For some that life is something to celebrate. For others it's something to repudiate. What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.

Nothing new about me LH. Or the idea, I was sorta expecting a nomination. ;) I'll start work on my acceptance speach, as soon as I've finished invading Clackmannanshire.

I'll take the job. I'm an evil person to some already so it only takes an extra few. How much does it pay BTW or is it a labour of love? :-)

Cheers

I suppose I have always been and always will be dismissive of armchair socialists.

Having someone to blame for your situation can be cathartic and prevents you from being too inward looking if you know what I mean. Hating Thatcher because you disagreed with her is not worthy of people. Hating her because you were affected by the bitch is understandable and hating her in support of others can be somehow altruistic but borderline the first example.

Hating those charged with keeping society going can be strange when you think about it. Sadly most politicians don't help themselves. However if there were no bogeymen, the newspaper editors would elevate some poor sod in the name of selling tomorrow's chip wrapper.

Next bogeyman? why not ring Paul Dacre and ask him?

Well Ake, I live in Sutherland, which is the biggest county. So it seems only right that I should pick on the smallest county. That's the way these things work.

Pete Seeger... I have dreams about him suddenly appearing and giving me an attack of his pious, dull music. Doc Watson usually enters at some point, with Albert Ayler and others of the righteous and banishes the bogey man. Moral - you can waste your time hating anybody... many saps do...
