He did some serious acting too.

I recall a Twilight Zone where just he and Jack Klugman played pool. Klugman overacted, Winters did not.

I read an article he wrote for AARP magazine years ago. It seems he consciously decided to be a decent human being despite having some of the most dysfunctional parents you could imagine.

He was a proud son of Ohio and as long as I can remember people around the state have cheered him on and felt pride in his career. I had an Aunt that lived in Springfield-Dayton area and was one of his biggest fans. He overcame a dysfuntional family and battled personal demons but came out the other end a beloved comedian and actor.

Like many comedians his acting chops were blessed with superb timing and his facile and far reaching mind took us on flights of fancy through some far too believable if slightly overdrawn characters.

They don't come around often. Glad I was there when he did. Thanks for all the laughs.

He was one of the greatest comedians of modern times. I think anyone who remembers him will miss him.

Watched him every chance I got, sometimes having to plead with my parents to stay up that late (just not on a school night).

Prayed that I could be as creative and improvise so amazingly.

One of the funniest men on the face of the planet.
