This really is BS but I could not resist. The paper reported this morning that a Golden Retriever belonging to a man in Montana ate five $100 bills. The man salvaged the pieces of the bills, washed them, taped them back together and sent them to the Treasury Department in hopes they would be replaced.

Lovely story Arkie! 'Golden Destroyer' might be a better name for his breed. Here in UK, as long as you can save the number on the note, the Bank of England will refund the value. Er... just one question...from which end of the dog did the chap retrieve the money?!

Didn't he realized he could be charged with money laundering?

This is a dog aspiring to move up in life! Or maybe he heard that old phrase "you can't eat money" and decided to see if it was true.

Maybe the guy can get a lot more than face value for those bills; coffee sells for lots more after it has gone thru a civet cat.

Art Thieme had a dog named blue that did the same thing. He couldn't pass it however according to Art, cause it was counterfeit.

Replacement of damaged bills is a fairly routine thing and is done quite commonly.

The Catch-22 is that the Treasurey reports that it normally takes 6 months to 2 years (their rough estimate) to get it done.

...the way I heard it, the vet gave him a laxative and said he'd let the family know the result. When they 'phoned him up to ask about progress he said:
"No change so far".
