Subject: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: kendall Date: 23 May 13 - 10:33 AM At 10 pm last night I took Jacqui to the ER of Maine Medical hospital with chest pains, dizziness and slight nausea. They took an EKG which was normal, so they kept her over night for observation. At 10:30 today they are doing a stress test. I sure hope it's nothing serious, like a by pass. Let's keep our fingers crossed. |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 May 13 - 01:00 PM Except for the fact that when medical types start poking around to find the reason, it can be darned uncomfortable, I hope at some point it is identified and ruled out as a serious problem. Like Rap, I don't knit or crochet. I'd have to sew a cape instead of crochet a shawl. :) SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: jacqui.c Date: 23 May 13 - 03:10 PM Thanks to all. They sprung me at lunchtime - EKG, blood tests and stress test all showed no sign of a heart problem but, as I said to the guy this morning, the ultra-sound shows I do actually have a heart! The doctor this morning said that sometimes these things can happen even without any signs afterwards. The pain last night was pretty severe - scared me enough to want to go to the ER. The staff there were all great - really nice people who made a very stressful night much easier. I'm feeling quite washed out today and shall be taking it very easy for the rest of the day. I've got an appointment with my own primary care guy next Tuesday to talk about it and maybe to look at the possibility that it could be GI related. Once again, thanks for the good wishes. I love you lot! |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: kendall Date: 23 May 13 - 03:33 PM GI related? you got some splaining to do! |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: ClaireBear Date: 23 May 13 - 03:39 PM Kendall, that was PRICELESS! Did you set up this whole event for that joke? |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Dave the Gnome Date: 23 May 13 - 03:39 PM Don't scare us, especialy Kendall, like that Jacqui! Glad it's all OK. My experience of chest pains, nausea and very similar symptoms to a heart condition always used to cured with a Bisodol tablet! But I do have a hiatus hernia :-( Cheers Dave |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Stilly River Sage Date: 23 May 13 - 04:10 PM Did anyone ask you questions about your gall bladder? If you still have one, it might do with some looking into. SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Ebbie Date: 23 May 13 - 04:15 PM I too am glad that the answer came back so swiftly! Be well, Jacqui- I wonder, along with DtG, whether it might be hiatal. |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: VirginiaTam Date: 23 May 13 - 04:25 PM Jacqui - So happy you are home and thanks to Kendall for letting us know. Good news the heart appears to be ok. But you really want a definitive reason for the pain you experienced so you can avoid in future. Re the GI potential. Very true that. GERD can mimic heart pain. So can hiatal hernia. Even cervical tendonitis. I have Sjogrens which causes spasm in my salivary glands and lower jaw which spreads down to horrid pressure on chest. Very painful, lasts about 20 minutes and I get it almost every day between 3am and 5am. Feels like someone is sitting on my chest. Coughing and brushing my teeth helps to disburse the pain. Hope you find answer very soon and have no mre episodes like this. |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: jacqui.c Date: 23 May 13 - 07:21 PM Maggie - gall bladder came out about three years ago,at the beginning of what was to be a stay in New York and then on to Washington with my family. I do remember the pain from that one! I have had a hiatus hernia for more years than I can remember but it has been very quiet for a long time. We did, however, suffer a 'rubber chicken' dinner on Saturday - both Kendall and I had some digestive issues as a result and I am wondering now if that woke up the sleeping 'monster'. I shall mention that to my doctor next week and see what he thinks. I would really like to have a reason for this happening. Mary - it was 9.30 at night when this all started and you have to work, sp calling you would have caused you to have less sleep and there really wasn't anything to do - I sent Kendall home at 11.30, when it was clear that I was going to be overnighting in ER. Like you I'm better left alone when I'm unwell - why make everyone suffer? Oh - and KENDALL!!!!!! CELLAR!!!!!!!!!!! |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: YorkshireYankee Date: 23 May 13 - 07:59 PM Like everyone else, SO glad to hear that this did not end up being tragic. Fingers crossed they can figure out what the problem is/was without too much trouble, and that it's nothing to worry about (or, next best option -- easily dealt with). |
Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Bobert Date: 23 May 13 - 08:02 PM Don't let the Capt'n near the kitchen, Jacqui... He really has no understanding what all that stuff actually is and that when you combine the wrong stuff you got to the hospital... I mean, if he want's to warm up a pop tart, that's okay... Mixing stuff ain't his bag... Glad yer feeling better... B;~) |

Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: gnu Date: 23 May 13 - 08:33 PM WHEW! Gave me a scare. Been dealing with a lot of other stuff today and just got back here and read the GREAT news! Subject: RE: BS: Jacqui in hospital From: Jeri Date: 24 May 13 - 09:41 AM "Keep some antacids and some Omaprazole/Prilosec handy Jacqui. Take one of each if it happens again and if the symptoms subside - You know what it was!" Go for Zantac or anything that works faster. Prilosec IS omeprazole, and it can take up to a week of daily doses to start working. It also can cause bone loss if you take it for a long time (years). I have loads of experience with all sorts of reflux/heartburn/too-much-fucking-acid meds. Zantac works faster. Tums works faster than Zantac, and it's cheaper. If you rule out acid/heartburn, at least that's one more thing it isn't. I'm really glad you passed all your tests and got out of there, though! |
