Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Rapparee Date: 27 Jul 13 - 11:13 PM And as he uncovers his trumpet and starts to blow low and sweet, the dachshunds join in...one hundred dachshunds, several packs of wolves, a few coyotes, and a trumpet. Music fit for the ears of the gods! |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Janie Date: 28 Jul 13 - 08:32 PM Ain't that little bit sweet, Sandra. But Oh, the cacophony! should acknowledge that our Kat "grokked" the cacophony of the universe. I bet the weinerdog/trumpet band, complete with flailing swords can join in on this one. Everybody, raise your tankards, mugs, stemware, or mason jell glass in a toast as we sing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUa8mbgKex8 the squid and the duck are doing quite well with the tamborine and the shakee eggs. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST Date: 29 Jul 13 - 12:08 AM As long as we are around the campfire, Kat, I must dedicate my favorite song in the entire world to you. From what I hear, you will smile. He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother The road is long With many a winding turn That leads us to who knows where Who knows where But I'm strong Strong enough to carry him He ain't heavy, he's my brother So on we go His welfare is of my concern No burden is he to bear We'll get there For I know He would not encumber me He ain't heavy, he's my brother If I'm laden at all I'm laden with sadness That everyone's heart Isn't filled with the gladness Of love for one another It's a long, long road From which there is no return While we're on the way to there Why not share? And the load Doesn't weigh me down at all He ain't heavy he's my brother |

Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST Date: 29 Jul 13 - 12:55 AM Thank you Sandra. It sounds like one of Ritchie's paintings. See that little racoon dancing on the barrel? I love Ritchie. He's my bro. See how cute? http://www.mattesonart.com/banjo-pickin-girl.aspx |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST Date: 29 Jul 13 - 12:12 PM And he forgives me for misspelling his name too. Sorry Richie. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Janie Date: 29 Jul 13 - 09:22 PM Is it possible (and do we even want to try) to move back inside and leave the damn dogs outside? Excuse me - I meant to say the darlin' canines. I'm hungry, but can't seem to get a bite in as the fearsome little pointy-nosed beasties snatch the barbecued dino right off my plate. A little discipline, please?! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: ChanteyLass Date: 29 Jul 13 - 09:50 PM Before we go inside, I want to take another look for the new star in the sky I first spotted when I left the tavern on the 22nd. Yes, it's still there, twinkling and shining brightly. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Janie Date: 29 Jul 13 - 11:09 PM Yes, I see it, Chantylass! And hear joyous laughter as the damned dachshunds grab the food off my plate. Talk about perspective! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST,freda Date: 30 Jul 13 - 01:59 AM Hthanks Liz for starting this thread. Have been sitting in the corner, sipping a cointreau on the rocks, enjoying the music. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 30 Jul 13 - 05:01 AM music of the dachshunds? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Rapparee Date: 31 Jul 13 - 01:08 AM Look up! Look up through the hole in the roof! Can you see it? Can you see the cat there, smiling and laughing and sharing our sorrow and especially our joy? Can you? For she'll be there...and it's Rick Fielding! And all the others! Look up! Look up! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: gnu Date: 31 Jul 13 - 02:42 PM gnu plugs a nickel into the gnubox and turns er up on ten. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: ClaireBear Date: 31 Jul 13 - 02:52 PM Doesn't that dial go up to 11? I've been enjoying this very smoky single malt and pondering the stars, more specifically, those anomalies over there -- see? -- in the Squid Nebula. I'm no astronomer, but I think you're right, Chanteylass and Rap! They are indeed up there. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Janie Date: 31 Jul 13 - 09:55 PM The wonders of the universe - serendipity, I suppose, that the Jello and Squid nebuli seem to commingle as they do, at least from our perch, light years away. Damn. The cheap chardonnay bottle is empty. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: gnu Date: 01 Aug 13 - 08:00 PM Indeed Rap! LOOK UP! LOOK UP! |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: ChanteyLass Date: 01 Aug 13 - 10:47 PM Yes, they are all up there in the sky! I never noticed the hole in the tavern's roof, though. Now we can get away from those darling but noisy dogs and still see those stars. I'd like a skylight installed where that hole is. Great video and song, gnu. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: ranger1 Date: 01 Aug 13 - 11:03 PM That hole is there to allow the hideous squid farts to escape without asphyxiating the lot of us. I think squiddy has been taking lessons from 'Spaw. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Janie Date: 01 Aug 13 - 11:41 PM Where's a "like" button when you really want it? Damn, that is lazy of me. O geez, is that a brigade from the legion hall charging down the hill? Surely that is not Kat leading the charge! Oh no, Mr. Bill..... |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 02 Aug 13 - 05:39 AM Was just strolling through the pub, saw 'ClaireBear'..and just thought I'd say 'Hi' to ya...' Hi!' Regards!! GfS |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: ClaireBear Date: 02 Aug 13 - 11:59 AM Hi! Welcome to the Mudcat Tavern & Starlite Lounge. Watch out for that tentacle. What are you drinking? |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: Rapparee Date: 02 Aug 13 - 11:29 PM See, I've got this trumpet. It's pretty old, but it's in great shape. A deep, deep blue sheen with silver like stars in the bell and if you look into the bell long enough you'll be sucked in as if it were a whirlpool. I don't play it. The guy I got it from (in a bar, as collateral on a small loan) told me about it. He (or may it was she, it was hard to tell in that bar) said when it was played...well, never mind. She or he said "I'll be back for it when I get around to it. In the meantime, use your own horn -- that 1929 Conn job you have. And thanks for the hundred. I mean that!" Interesting that he or she knew about my horn. Kat probably knows about it too, now. |
Subject: RE: BS: Mudcat Tavern special opening. From: GUEST,Guest from Sanity Date: 03 Aug 13 - 12:52 AM Oh, that's not a tentacle...I've got a runny nose! GfS |
