Over 2000 jobs, pipefitters, welders, electricians, and all other trades and skills, technicians, bus drivers (with allowances), machinery operators, etc. available in Fort McMurray area, Alberta, for those with Canadian residence or with acceptance for work in Canada.

Ebbie, you can find your answer by doing a web search for Fort McMurray Alberta. There is a lot of controversy about the industry there, so I'll leave it to you to read and form your own opinion. I don't even want to give you a blue clicky to a website that might influence you.

Yep, the Oil Sands capital. The highway is notorious (good paved road but heavy traffic, large construction semis), and it takes many hours to drive up into northern Alberta, with a good chance of dozing off and having a wreck.

Pop. 76,000 in 2010, adding a few thousand every year.

Also look up Kearl Oil Sands Camp, Wapasu (youtube) where a new town for a new development is being built in the area.

Interesting area, closest "access" to Wood Buffalo National Park.
