Subject: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 05 Oct 13 - 08:07 PM So, I was visiting the Charlotte Fine Arts today because there is a painting that Joni, the owner, has that I love and I have it on lay-away... I also have a painting which will be in a jury-ed show in November... Anyway, I got talking with Joni about teaching a "Basic Drawing" course and looks like I might be doing it come January... Crossed fingers... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 05 Oct 13 - 09:39 PM If they look like real people, that's good... The face is a little complicated but once you get it, you get it... Think I'll start these folks out on still lifes that I set up for them... Well, that's the way I came up... B~ |

Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 05 Oct 13 - 10:04 PM Yeah, Joni and I talked about that... Models run into $$$... This is going to be "basic" drawing for Baby Boomers who are retired and want to learn to draw, ahhhh, get out of the house... Lotta that at this gallery... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Ebbie Date: 06 Oct 13 - 02:53 AM Ah, come on. Beaubear is lean and rangy, and with good bones. Just the kind of model ya want. Go fer it! |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Pete Jennings Date: 06 Oct 13 - 06:57 AM Go to it, Bobz. I'm lucky that I've been able to draw since I could first pick up a pencil but I still study other artists' work and learn from them every day. Nowt like education, in whatever form it takes. |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 06 Oct 13 - 09:07 AM I ain't doin' no modelin' no matter how good my bones might be... Only person I'm takin' my clothes off for is the P-Vine... B;~) |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: G-Force Date: 06 Oct 13 - 10:50 AM I certainly would have a job teaching art. |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: ChanteyLass Date: 06 Oct 13 - 08:43 PM I hope it happens for you, Bobert! |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Rapparee Date: 06 Oct 13 - 08:58 PM I'd model but the students would run out of pencils, pens, charcoal, crayons, markers, and even cameras long before they were done. I was told once that I put the "obscura" in "camera obscura." |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Pete Jennings Date: 07 Oct 13 - 07:29 AM But I bet you didn't have a lot to do with the camera lucida! |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 07 Oct 13 - 08:55 AM Right now I'm trying to put together a a course description... I donno??? If I get to teach a the class and they want to move into "figure drawing" we'll cross that bridge when we come to it... I mean, a lot of older folks ain't comfy with nudes... B~ |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Rapparee Date: 07 Oct 13 - 11:09 AM It occurs to me, Bobert ol' pal, that you can't teach Art anything. He's got anything you could teach him nailed, dude, NAILED! |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bill D Date: 07 Oct 13 - 03:08 PM " ...lean and rangy, and with good bones. Just the kind of model ya want. " Very briefly..or for amateurs. I modeled for 2 evening sessions when I was in college..(this was **Kansas** and male models had to wear some sort of little brief). Turns out the better artists get bored with "lean and rangy"...those straight lines are too easy. Roundish women made all the good money. I'll say this... the effort of holding VERY still for 30 min. at a time totally overrides any discomfort at being almost nude. I made $4 an hour for about 4 hours. |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: Bobert Date: 07 Oct 13 - 04:59 PM Yup, Bill... We had lots of different models when I was in art school at VCU and the one that everyone loved was Mrs. Crenshaw... She was in her 60s and weighed in at right around 250 pounds... She was fun to draw... No bones about it... B;~) |
Subject: RE: BS: Might have a job teaching art... From: open mike Date: 08 Oct 13 - 04:10 AM i have modelled for college art classes...once when (very) pregnant (which gave students a rare opportunity to capture such a shape) and once when my child was small...only a few months old....which also was interesting....back in the middle ages the artists drew and painted children to look like little adults...they did not get the larger head proportions in children....(4 heads vs 7-8 heads) |
