Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Just watching football and eating turkey. My Mrs. fell and broke her ankle. They put a pin in it yesterday and fixed it and she is in a leg cast. she is fine but I did all the cooking .. came out ok actually. Now I got a new job ... making next years Thanksgiving. Now what to cook for xmas

And a happy Thanksgiving to you, too, olddude. And to your wife. The pin in her ankle might make it interesting going through airport scanners (I have a rod in my left femur. Busted it pretty bad thirteen years ago.).

My wife and I are waiting for the horde to arrive. About ten people altogether. Cooking problem more or less solved. Coordinated pot luck.

No football. The mob consists of musicians of assorted types, an actor, a couple of artists. . . . Lots of conversation.

just me and the Mrs. Kids all overseas visiting my middle daughter. So we are just taking it easy. The turkey was good. Sure thing about the steel implants. I get busted every time I fly .. my neck and back are all steel they pat me down every single time. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours my brother

Yeah, a happy one back at all me friends here in the Catbox...

OL' hillbilly survived it... It was touch and go... We had the P-Vine's 3 sons - yes, including the one who lived with us and his teenaged and now pregnant wife - and the other daughters-in-law and the garndies and all went reasonably well...

The best part is they just left... Now there's something to be tahnkful for...

As for footy, congratulations are due your Steelers on their 9-7 season and their win tonight. HEY... TB guarantees it and so it shall be.

Sounds good. I went over to a friend's place...we are all poets in the area, and all have made names for ourselves in the scene. Had lots of good laughter, conversation, wine and food...it was a great time....I was witty...and apparently, managed to piss off the woman I am interested in.

Sooooooo, Pumpkin Pie Day is over and we can get on to Mincemeat Pie Day eh. Mmmmmmmm... HOT mincemeat pie with vanilla ice cream and turkey. Of course, our Pumpkin Pie Day was over 6 weeks ago so Mincemeat Pie Day will be even tastier!

When you've done with household chores for a few minutes, why not post some more pics of your great watches on the Old Pocket Watches thread? (I'm saving up a couple of things for Mahlon to service and will be getting them to him after Christmas).

I've never had pumpkin pie - is it sweet?

Thanks Will, I will post some pics. Pumpkin pie is awesome .. sweet but not overly sweet it is one of my favorites for sure.   Lots of turkey, acorn squash, mashed potatoes and cranberrys ... I bet I gained 10 lbs LOL

We are thankful for so much in our lives, though life is very hard at times.

We are sad to miss the 60+ year family gathering in a nearby state due to weather, and a disappointment we couldn't have a nice dinner at home, but the focus of the day for us is being thankful to God, friends, family, strangers... and we are.

OUCH!
So sorry the Missus is ailing.
She's lucky to have you. I know too many men who would have tossed the turkey uncooked in the trash and ordered Chinese.
Maeve and TruLove - I know you missed spending the day with your family. I also know that you treasured the time with each other and the chickens.
I spent the day with the Morses. A bountiful and delicious meal followed by music and stories and good times.
Crapped out this morning and didn't go to work. The kitties are giving thanks for being able to go in and out of the back door at will.

Canada held Thanksgiving in October, but we had a pumpkin pie anyway.

I had a wonderful meal with the Morses as well. SINS, funny how we missed each other like that. I certainly realized I need to find some opportunities for music, since I seem to have lost a lot.
My usual Thanksgiving for the past 13 or 14 years was with curmudgeon (Tom) and Bat Goddess (Linn). I think neither Linn nor I could have dealt with the empty chair, so we both went in different direction.

I'm thankful for friends who open their hearts and homes to unconnected ones such as I. May your generosity come back to you in spades.
