Subject: BS: Ear Worm Sort of...Help! From: SINSULL Date: 14 Jan 14 - 11:39 AM A line of poetry keeps running through my head and I can't place it. "Gray the sky Gray gray gray..." I thought "Elegy Written in a Country Churchyard" but the only Gray there is the author. Anyone????? |

Subject: RE: BS: Ear Worm Sort of...Help! From: maeve Date: 14 Jan 14 - 05:48 PM T.S. Eliot, Mary, with the British spelling 'grey'. The Complete Poems and Plays of T. S. Eliot By T.S. Eliot (A fragment)... Here is no continuing city, Here is no abiding stay. Ill the wind, ill the time, Uncertain the profit, Certain the danger. O late late late, late is the time, Too late, and rotten the year; Evil the wind, and bitter the sea, And grey the sky, grey grey grey. -- from "Murder in the Cathedral" by T.S. Eliot |

Subject: RE: BS: Ear Worm Sort of...Help! From: SINSULL Date: 15 Jan 14 - 01:38 PM thank you, maeve! I played a part in a local production of Murder in the Cathedral. One of my lines: ... I have tasted The living lobster, the crab, the oyster, the whelk and the prawn; and they live and spawn in my bowels, and my bowels dissolve in the light of dawn. Charming stuff. Now on to some other nonsensical tidbit... SINS, at work |

From: maeve Date: 15 Jan 14 - 02:36 PM "I have tasted The living lobster, the crab, the oyster, the whelk and the prawn; and they live and spawn in my bowels, and my bowels dissolve in the light of dawn." What a wonderful line, Sinsull! I'm glad I could help find the Grey (non-funnel) line. It just happens I prefer that spelling, so used it in my search. Maeve |
