Subject: RE: BS: I have a question for fun
From: GUEST,Mrr at work

I asked this question to my elder son, and we had the following conversation.
-What word first comes to mind when you hear the word Iceland?
-Cold, although Greenland is cold and Iceland is warm.
-That's why I first think the word Propaganda.

Oddly enough I always think Scarpi, though we only met the once. Your CD still gets a hit on my player. The other thing I think is Brenavin and Shark meat !!

I think of you, Skarpi, and the lovely Gunna...and of my friend Muff Worden who lived and died there and who loved the people, the music, and the land.

Then I think of how much I'd love to experience the people, music, land, and animals there.

I'd like to learn Icelandic. This site is fun:

I make it a practice never to think of Kerry Katona, not under any circumstances. I'm pretty sure she doesn't think of me either.

"Iceland"? The Gullfoss.

the only reason anyone thinks of Kerry Katona is becoz she endorses them.

back to the OP: I've been to Iceland twice, and when I hear the word Iceland, I don't think of another word. Instead a beautiful landscape comes into my mind: a volcanic peak with green moss growing on the side and purple and gray scree running down, looking almost like flowing water.

Akureyri!

My wife and I spent 2 great holidays wild-camping near the head of a valley about 12 miles outside Akureyri in about 1983-84.

We set our tent up on a flat area where a stream came down in a 20ft waterfall and then dropped another 20ft into the main river. Totally protected from the wind, fresh water 5 metres away in the stream and the occasional fish from the river.

For other supplies we had to walk into Akureyri (and back again)....a 24 mile round trip, so it took the whole day. We stayed 12 days the first time and went back the following year, we enjoyed it so much.

Are those laws still in effect?

Ice!

I have a book by a friend about his solo trek across Iceland. He went there in search of the true Norse accent, that resulted in the northern English guttural sound, and ended up showing a Valkyrie how to make tea :-) Good book.

Cheers
